(115,683 posts)it wasn't nearly that interesting. In fact, bathrooms are seldom interesting regardless of who is using them - which is why I don't get the controversy (except that it's been created by bigoted assholes who apparently have no idea what happens in public bathrooms, which is people closing stall doors and peeing without anybody looking at their personal bits).

(111,255 posts)There was an MDC toilet in Boston frequented by homeless people that was absolutely hilarious. For literate graffiti, the Boston Public Library delivered, while Harvard did not. MIT supplied occasional geek humor.
But Target? Nah, lights are too bright and you just want to run in, do your business, and get the hell out of there ASAP.

brought to you by the RW fear mongers.
Meanwhile, they are screwing us in ways we can't even imagine.

(170 posts)Trans people have been using "their preferred gender" bathrooms for decades, centuries, et al!
I don't know what these people think goes on in the ladies' room, but it's nothing!
I will admit I accident went in once. I was distracted and realllly had to go.
I thought it was odd the men's room had a bunch of stalls. - I didn't care I had to GO anyway.
Then I realized where i was!
I was so embarrassed that as soon as I as done I prayed for a lull and ran out!
I then entered the men's room and washed up.
But seriously what do they think happens?
and yes, as posted up thread... this has nothing to do wit bathrooms, and it's sad that they feel they need to scare the hell out of people like my colleague (sadly a RWer but at least a tolerable one) who now refuses to go to Target for fear that something will happen with his kids.
I just frown and nod and advise we avoid politics whenever possible.

(2,674 posts)I am 76 years old and have used thousands of public restrooms in many countries and in all those visits I have never encountered a man. If there were to be a transgender there, he would be wearing woman's clothing so I'd never know and besides all that, I don't give a flying flip! What about restrooms on airplanes - give me a break. This is so much nothing!
If I am in a place that has a restroom for only one lady at a time and it is occupied and the men's is empty, I will go the men's and use it. So damn what; it is no big deal - we all gotta go.
This is all about getting the Conservative Christians all tied up in twits in hopes they'll go vote. Karl Rove used the same tactic with "the ban the gays" to turn them out for Bush's re-election..

(9,895 posts)First thing to tell them?
"Go the fuck back to WalMart!"
Second to tell them?
"You bigoted piece of shit!"
Repeat loudly until they leave.
Either that or I will force them to explain their bigotry in as loud a voice as they want to use...I once made a street preacher quit and leave an area in 15 minutes after haranguing him about Cain's wife and I would gladly ask one of these losers to explain exactly which parts of Leviticus I could use to justify stoning them to death in the parking lot.
