Never underestimate the Republicans' capacity to shut up & fall in line behind the Leader (updated)

Republicans have long exhibited a tendency to suspend disbelief and logic and march in line behind behind whatever they're told to do and believe by their leaders. They believed the Clinton Murder List bullshit. They believed the blowjob was impeachment worthy. They believed in WMDs. They've believed trickle-down tax cuts will increase revenues for a quarter of a century after the facts proved that down is the opposite of up. They believed the lies about Obama's birth certificate and religion and healthcare reforms.

Why on earth would they suddenly not follow Trump and believe he's God's Chosen President now that he's finished his hostile take-over of the Republican Party? Trump will win over the Wall Street bankers now that Cruz is out; Trump will win over the Christian fundies cause their preacher-charlatans will tell them parables about King David being a mack-daddy before being called; Trump will win over the rank and file Main Street Republicans because in their guts they're all conformist little sheep waiting to be told who to follow; and he'll win over the trailer park meth-head Republicans because they're all waiting to be told who to hate.

Are you waiting for their convention fight? Are you expecting them to fall apart? You're dead wrong. The Republicans will be extraordinarily unified and lockstep this fall. They have a candidate who can pull strongly among Independents and will have the base locked up tight.

Will we?

But is this Trump panic even realistic? Clinton is ahead of him by 6 whole points when you take an average of the match-up polls from April. When in history have the polls ever moved that much in just 6 short months?

Explain it to the confident Dems, Van Jones...

I'm warning yall against this overconfident BS about the GOP "falling apart". You're a fool of the worst sort if you wanna play shoot the messenger.

We have a problem. I genuinely hope you're right and that Van Jones and I are wrong.

But I've lived on the Gulf Coast long enough to know you always prepare for a hurricane, even if you can't see it coming. I've been a Democrat long enough to remember Dukakis losing a can't-lose election and seen Republican idiots swamp Congressional elections based on bullshit arguments four times--1994, 2004, 2010, & 2014. But go ahead and enjoy that close up view of the sand, Mr Ostrich.

I am seeing my right wing friends on Facebook already falling in line behind him. So long as they prevent the demon Hillary from getting into the White House all is good.

Listened to about 5 mins of morning answer this morning and all the callers were falling in line. That hate Trump but they'll vote for him because somehow in their warped brain he's better than any alternative.

I don't care I will never vote for Trump. He's a loser.

4. I'm waiting for a reaction from the man that I overheard not too long ago who stated:

"Of course, I always vote Republican because of my Christian principles". I'd love to ask him how he feels about Trump, but it's my boss and we decided long ago not to discuss politics.

If they can believe in the Ark and the Divine Calling of Ted Cruz, the Divine Calling of Donald Trump ain't that big a stretch

She's got to win over the Sanders voters. I don't even see her trying. This is gonna be one hella close election. Anyone talking landslide is a fool.

The problem is that the party realignment is not complete, and they still need them to win.

I wonder what they add to the champagne? This over confidence is really common with some folks who got lots of money
