I have a large number of conservative friends. Only one says he will vote for Trump. The remainder are skipping this election.

Schmidt predicted that “a substantial amount of Republican officials who have worked in Republican administrations, especially on issues of defense and national security, will endorse Hillary Clinton in the campaign.”

So repukes are totally cool with her hawkish foreign policy.

Many republicans can see through the BS Trump has been spewing. I keep hearing about a lot of big shot republicans who don't want Trump in the WH simply because the know just how sick this bastard really is. Trump strikes me as a psychopath who only cares about getting what "HE" wants, and does not care about anyone who will get hurt in the process. He has no really grasp of the issues, the problems, or the job of being a president. He could care less what happens, he is rich and he won't be hurt by his actions, or by the wars he may cause. There many republicans that see this, and they may vote for Hillary, they may stay home, but they are NOT going to vote for Trump because they fear the same things that Democrats do about this man.

that I hope are having a crisis of conscience about supporting their party's nominee.

It might just hinge on that. God knows they've had sufficient evidence of the misogynistic tendencies of most Repubs in public office. Trump has demonstrated his disdain for women on a national stage. Will they let him get away with that?

I hope not.

All the while, Sanders will attack Hillary right up until November. Trump will be the one with the momentum. I fear Democrats will have no choice but the vote for Trump in that scenario.

Why would any Democrat vote for Trump? It makes no sense. No matter how much "momentum" he may have, he will not be getting the votes of Democrats. He may get a lot of Sanders supporters who are not, and never have been, Democrats, but no real Democrat is going to voter for Trump instead of our nominee.

I'd say that's probably still true now, but many will be swayed between now and November.

In states where the outcome is a given -- about 40 out of the 51 -- I'd suspect they'll either stay home or vote downballot only. Late October polling will probably be a key factor in deciding.

I distinctly remember the way he snarled the name "Donald Trump" when the subject came up. And there is precedent: when Carl "Palomino" Paladino somehow managed to get the repuke nod for governor of NY, R.S. voted for Cuomo.
