So what happens when BOTH people running for President are up on criminal charges?

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Omaha Steve (a host of the General Discussion forum).

Trump will be in court over his fraudulent "University" scam. Clinton may well be facing indictments for her e-mail problems.

Then what do we do? Call a national "Do-Over?"

I've never seen anything so screwed up in my entire life.

their nominee after the convention. If, in the absolute worst possible circumstance, something terrible were to happen and the candidate absolutely not able to run (hint: the person dies) then presumably the VP choice would be immediately elevated to Head of the Ticket Status, and a new VP choice would happen. Keep in mind, in 1972 the first Democratic VP, Tom Eagleton, got replaced by Sargent Shriver some two weeks into the national campaign because Eagleton had had the courage to seek treatment for mental illness some years earlier. The fact that McGovern lost the race probably has no connection to the VP debacle, but the size of his loss was probably influenced by the events.

Why either party would be embracing such flawed candidates is entirely beyond me.
