Jehovah's Witnesses create a cartoon to teach kids to harass other kids with gay parents

"People can change," a mother tells her daughter after comparing same-sex marriage to a criminal trying to smuggle weapons on a plane in a new cartoon released on the official Jehovah's Witnesses website.

...

The official website for Jehovah’s Witnesses just released a short cartoon video with the purposes of teaching kids that same-sex marriage is wrong. The video propaganda is disturbing on so many levels. Not only does it push a view that marriage between two loving people of the same gender is wrong, but it also teaches kids that they should actively speak out against it and try to convert others to turn away from the “homosexual lifestyle.”

In the video, a little girl tells her mom about one of her classmates drawing a family picture with two mommies. She then says that her teacher told her all that matters is that people love each other and that they’re happy. The mom is the video gives a disapproving “hmmmmm” and tells the girls that, “people have their own ideas about what is right and wrong, but what matters is how Jehovah feels.”

Later in the video, a man is shown setting off a metal detector in an airport while the mom absurdly compares same-sex marriage to a person trying to bring something on an airplane that is not “allowed.” The language is chosen carefully here to make the scenario seem innocent and not hateful, but do you know what items set off metal detectors and are also “not allowed” on airplanes? Here are a few items listed on the TSA website: knives, explosives, guns, swords, razors, hatchets, saws, screwdrivers, etc. Is this children’s video seriously comparing same-sex marriage to a criminal trying to smuggle weapons on a plane?

That is from the New Civil Rights Movement.

I obviously have a lot to say about this, but I think Dan Savage said it better than me:

At the end of the video, Cartoon Mom asks Cartoon Daughter what she can say to Carrie, her classmate with the two moms, that might convince Carrie to change. Or convince Carrie to change moms. Or something. The little girl rattles off some reasons Carrie's moms might want to divorce each other, marry men, and go through the motions of pretending to like dick for the rest of their immiserated lives: Paradise! All the cute animals you get to play with in paradise! The resurrection!

...

Now Carrie's parents could encourage their daughter to tell her JW classmate about birthdays and Christmas presents and Easter baskets and blood transfusions and all the other awesome stuff her parents and their stupid, shitty religion prevent her from enjoying here on earth—as well as all the other things that suck about growing up in a stupid fucking cult—in the hopes that Carrie classmate's parents might change. Because membership in an idiotic, harmful, dangerous, god-bothering "faith" is a choice and people can and do change, aka "convert," all the time. And Carrie's parents could encourage their daughter to send her JW classmate to websites like this one and this one.

But same-sex parents don't encourage their kids to be towering dicks to kids with religious parents. That shit only flows in one direction.

Churches and cults are in absolute panic-mode.

After all, religion has used human sexuality to keep people in line since the first ignorant Bronze Age goat herder declared himself a prophet.

And Boomers, still tethered to that pathetic "Father Knows Best/Image and reputation are EVERYTHING" kept the churches and cults going for a while.

But now we have enlightened generations, who realize that the preacher raging the most about OTHER people's sins is probably either cheating on his wife with hookers or diddling little boys and girls. They know religion is no more than a complete sham that politicians and sociopaths use to control and harm others.

So the churches and cults are frantically doubling down to reach the younger kids. It will backfire stupendously.

Too bad, so sad. If you don't like gay marriage, don't marry a gay person.

I feel so sorry for the "religious" laypeople who have no idea how corrupt and sexually predatory their leaders are. But as long as their beloved and "pure" pastors say "Jesus" or "Allah" or "Jehovah" the clueless and pathetic "believers" will never see what fools they truly are.

Either by turning a blind eye, or through wholehearted endorsement. Otherwise, I agree entirely.

will be bigoted, closed-minded people devoid of human compassion or the ability to think logically. That's a very interesting theology. Heaven sounds a lot like Hell.

And any argument that depends on quoting the Old Testament is bullshit.
