For all of you that think Hillary has this.

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by mcar (a host of the General Discussion forum).

She does not. Yes, she could blow it. She's not a terribly adept campaigner. The collective wisdom of the American electorate is abysmal. Far, far more republicans have turned out in the primaries than democrats. Everything that is old is new again, and by that I mean trump will dig up all the old scandals for a new generation unfamiliar with them- things like Marc Rich, for example. If she moves too far to the right in order to get republican votes, she risks losing a chunk of the base and liberal independents. She can't get too far into the muck with him- it's the wrestling with pigs problem. Sexism. Yes, the endless email shit.

I'd like to believe that there is no way this country could ever elect the talking yam.

It could.

to allow trump to become 'acceptable'

they're no laughing about hillary, or bernie

there is only one reason our 'democracy' has fallen so far that it couldn't adjust and fix itself

it is the biggest political mistake in history considering the time lost on global warming, and yet people still wonder how trump could be 'acceptable' as a major party candidate -

meanwhile the idiot left and their idiot orgs continue to complain about money in politics and wasting our donations, while the simple math shows this:

at a cheap $1000/hr x 15hrs/day x 1200 stations, rw talk radio is worth 4.68 BIL$/ year or 390MIL$ /month FREE for coordinated global warming denial, pro republican wall st think tank propaganda, deregulation, hate, and swiftboating

unlike fox, that is coordinated nationally and locally

for twenty five years the left ignored it while it pushed the dems right and now they equate trump and clinton, and wonder why we're here, and flail at the symptoms of allowing those 1200 radio stations to manage our media for wall street.

and meanwhile the idiot left continues to complain about money in politics, while allowing these 90 universities to endorse trump and make excuses for him on 268 limbaugh stations

You're absolutely correct that Dems have to prepare for this as if they were running against Bush or Kasich or any other of the more formidable, credentialed Republicans. In fact, harder because The Donald cannot be permitted to take his unhinged world view and mindset anywhere near the WH. He's wildly unpredictable. And not in a good or sane way.

That being said I think Democratic strategists are already planning their moves to kneecap The Talking Yam Who Would Be King. His mouth and behavior over the last year has proven at the very least that the man is a serial liar and narcissist.

This election will be one for the record books, as in ugly, ugly.

She is the most thoroughly vetted candidate for president ever. There is nothing new with her under the sun. And she has weathered all of it. Unfortunately, Sanders is nowhere near as vetted. He's largely unknown and a risk to be in the general election in November. I would really like to be able to say otherwise about Sanders, but it's just not meant to be.

Who thought we'd elect an actor governor of CA? Reagan? Arnold? So many people vote on name recognition and don't really think past party branding. In several state primaries so many more republicans showed up to vote than democrats. (Ohio, Florida, Virginia...think those are all swing states.) It is kinda scary. But I'm sure we'll hear non stop from now until November how very important it is to vote against Trump or else. And pretty much nothing else.

America elected Reagan and George W twice. Never underestimate the stupidity of the electorate. Combine that with the Republicans effectively repealing voting rights legislation and its very possible. Trump voters are fired up. And in a way Democrats like the Clintons have caused it. Trump can point to the Clintons support of NAFTA which has devastated the middle class and will be able to convince "Reagan Democrats" that he is the better option to bring back jobs to America. Trump looks like change and Clinton looks like same old same old. And change is a great motivator. To me that is Trumps greatest asset. He looks like the outsider and he looks like the anti free/slave trade candidate. Americans have seen their incomes slashed and their jobs sent overseas. I wish the Democrats could blame Republicans for this but thanks to Wall Street Dems like the Clintons they cannot. I was around when NAFTA was shoved down America's throat and Clinton and Gore led the charge. With allies like Jimmy Carter and the media all saying Perot was a nut for saying it would be a disaster ( which it has been ). It was a boom to the top 1% and screwed the bottom 90%. Big surprise. Do not get me wrong, I am voting for Hillary. But if there is one thing that Trump has in his favor it's sticking NAFTA in the Clintons faces. Whether Trump is really anti NAFTA and anti free/slave trade is questionable. The man is a first class liar and fraud. But to American middle class workers the more someone rants against these backstabbing deals that have destroyed their way of life the more likely they will vote for them. Bernie could have argued he was the best anti free/slave trader. The Clintons will not be able to.
