Romney Will Skip GOP Convention

"SNIP............

Mitt Romney “plans to skip this summer’s Republican National Convention in Cleveland where Donald Trump will be officially nominated — an unusual move that underscores the deep unease many Republican leaders have about the brash celebrity mogul as their standard bearer,” the Washington Post reports.

over his 2012 loss in the same way Tom Dewey got disrespected for his 1948 loss at the 1952 GOP convention.

She wanted to do it in 1944, but my father (in New Guinea at the time) wrote her and said we should stay the course with FDR while the war was on. My mother was just gaga over Dewey. She was also gaga over Soapy Williams after she danced with him at the Governor's Ball during National Guard Summer Camp in 1950. I don't remember my mother ever getting high on a presidential candidate after Tom Dewey.

While I remember her and my father arguing over Dewey in 1948, my first real political memories were 1952 (13 yrs old). I watched as much as I could of both conventions. They fascinated me. I haven't watched a convention since 1980 as they are now just boring coronations. I wished i could have watched the Dem convention in 1972 which had tons of drama even though McGovern got it on the first ballot. Unfortunately, I was on my second tour in Vietnam at the time.

We lived in Detroit and our next door neighbor, Mr Schmidt, was a leader of a United Auto Workers "Flying Squad" which would "vote early and vote often". My father came home from work and Bob Schmidt was in his driveway washing his car. My father was a UAW member at the time (before he was promoted) and said, "Hey, Bob, aren't you supposed to be out on the road hitting voting booths?" Mr. Schmidt said, "Hell, Eisenhower's got it in the bag, no use in going out tonight."

I also remember my father's comments to me after Eisenhower and Stevenson had been nominated by their party's conventions that, "You know, 1939, I didn't have one bit of say in either one of those nominations and i have to choose between them."

Politics. Do remember the 1952 Vote. Growing up in Northern Wisconsin, all the Men served under Ike and the 1st Division(The Big Red One),and the Teamsters backed Stevenson kinda tongue in cheek, knowing most of the membership served under Ike. Interesting times.

If they nominate a candidate to run against Trumpf and they can hold Hillary to under 270 EV's, then it will go into the House for a vote on the top 3 candidates.

Hint: Paul Ryan knows this and is positioning himself to be one of those 3...imho.
