Amy Goodman: How the media is ruining this election

The media manufactures consent.

Trump is pumped into everyone's home.

Trump got 23 times the coverage of Bernie Sanders (example: 81 min. on Trump, 20 sec. on Sanders).

Sanders is breaking every record, he is shaming the media. You break every record and there is a blip in the corporate media radar screen.

According to one tally of nightly broadcast network news during the 2015 primary season, Sanders received a total of 20 minutes of coverage, compared to Clinton’s 121 minutes and Trump’s 327.” (NY Times)

and

Another study that focused solely on network coverage showed Sanders receiving 6 percent of the coverage Trump did on network news in 2015, and 16.5 percent that of Clinton.” (Alternet)

The most impressive here is not that Sanders has so little time coverage compared to the other two. This was something, more or less, expected. The most impressive, is that Donald Trump, who is promoted as "anti-establishment", takes more time coverage in the media, even compared to the definitely-pro-establishment Hillary Clinton!

The mass media have been treating elections like reality shows/horse races for decades. They will recite polls, tell you where candidates are speaking, and have pundits pontificate on electability, but they will never, ever compare policy positions of the various candidates. If they have a colorful candidate who produces gaffes, they'll repeat those over and over again, it's about ratings.

I turned them off in 2004. I haven't had a reason to turn them back on again.

Amy Goodman is a strange person who selectively opposes wars based on whether or not they were started by the group close to Clintons.

She never fails to mention how the corporate media talks about some topic while she does the same thing. Here are two links to Amy Goodman's obsession with Trump. Note that they are as far back as July 2015 and August 2015. One of them is from the corporate media while the other is from the media outlet that gets money from foundations connected to American imperialism worldwide.
