I think that Trump will self-destruct before November.

His finances, his health (see dr.'s letter), his businesses are all areas where he will be forced to explain his past and he will finally say something that could put a stake through the heart of his campaign. What about his taxes? Is he going to continue to run his empire from the oval office?

I think that the GOP should be prepared to pull a new nominee out of a hat!

He's impulsive, and he has a very checkered past, so who knows what might be the situation that sets him off.

That he has come this far is a bit of a surprise, but the Republican party created this monster, and it isn't dying on its own.

I hope your predictions are correct, though, but would rather see Trump in office than someone like Cruz if the worst happens.

Can you imagine the executive orders under Cruz?

Trump will get us in so many wars, the country will die like Rome. Cruz would take away every right we have at the same time. If we go down, better with a God-complex buffoon at the helm than a sociopathic God-complex tyrant.

How can a doctor know the health of people- past presidents, I mean- he has not examined? As you wrote, cheyanne, it's as though Mr. Trump wrote it himself.

What Trump eats: The presidential candidate's less-than-healthy habits

Wendy's on his custom Boeing 757 while campaigning with Jerry Falwell Jr. in Iowa. McDonald's with advisers during a swing through New Hampshire. Two eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns and two biscuits at the Ham House during a pit stop in Greenville, S.C.

The world is his oyster, but that's not what he's consuming. The front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination eats like a teenage boy, inhaling Filets-O-Fish and Big Macs. "It's great stuff," he says of his fast-food habit. At a time when growing, cooking and enjoying food in the United States is yooooge, his preferences are surprisingly pedestrian - and passe, as if Alice Waters had never been born and food were fuel (albeit dirty gas as opposed to premium).

Ironically, Trump is hated by the R establishment not so much for his anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant, anti-women attacks but for his not wanting to destoy Social Security and statements he's made in support of Planned Parenthood. He's extremely inconsistent and has no core set of beliefs or values. He'll say anything to further his own ambition.

I think if he did manage to win (doubtful) he'd bring in a bunch of people experienced in government to do the heavy lifting. Whether he'd choose well is iffy, but he's smart enough to know he's incapable of doing the job. He just wants the title.

And the GOP didn't take him all that seriously so they reall didn't bother to do any digging until it we too late. All the insane things he said only appealed to a small % of the population, his supporters. Trump needs to win over tens of millions of other Americans to have a chance, that will not happen, in fact he might lose voters over the not six months. He will lose in a landslide.

The Democratic nominee needs to be careful and let Trump & GOP implode. But additionally our nominee needs to bring a message of hope for the future, a positive message to counter all of Hair DrumpFührer's negativity.

There is much too much at stake: SCOTUS, Senate, State Legislatures & Governors, even the House.

Sat May 7, 2016, 07:56 PM
May 2016

People, including pundits (who are laughable), were saying that Donald Trump would flame out.

I would not assume, with those recent CNN numbers, that Donald Trump would lose in a general-election landslide (to a Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton). What would help create that is if the Republicans, as they are doing now, put the screws to him. Thing is, that affects down-ballot races and, frankly, Old Guard types like U.S. senators John McCain (R-Arizona) and Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa)—their first elections in 1986 and 1980—want another term.

Voting habits, over the last three presidential elections—2004, 2008, and 2012—have been that states with U.S. Senate elections tend to see same-party carriage—President and U.S. Senate—at a rate of about 80 percent. In other words: 33 or 34 states may be on the schedule—and 25 to 27 end up carrying for the same party at both levels.

So, I don’t think the Republican Party are going to lie down just for satisfaction of Trump ending up losing badly.

Jeb would cut him to ribbons by last August, or that the RNC had a brilliant plan to swap him out for Kasich/Ryan/Romney

the problem is everyone misunderstands populism--it's not about the promises, not about condemning pissing away trillions in Iraq or promising more domestic spending, but about exposing the swindle that both the parties have been using to pull neoliberalism on the people for four decades

he has insulted. But as his campaign goes on those voters will become more alienated from him, he will become more insulting and crazy as it becomes apparant that people are rejecting him. He'll keep saying that everyone loves him, but it will ring hollow to the establishment republicans and independants. This will be his downfall.

able to recover will be some encounter with Hillary. We've seen that the most important chink in his 'armor' is his inability to deal with a strong woman. It really, really threatens him. He is good with the hit and run insult strategy he pulled during the so-called debates but he hasn't ever had to face a woman like Hillary. If he tries to pull it during a debate, where he can't run and hide after doing it, I predict she will proceed to disembowel him for all to see with a smile on her face and a song on her lips. And that's if she even gets a chance to do it - personally, my money is on Warren to do it before Hillary ever gets a chance.

He stood on a debate stage on the eve of the South Carolina primary and BLAMED bush for 9/11.

There is very VERY little he can say that is going to drive a stake through the heart of his campaign, b/c his campaign is based upon being the opposite. It is an anti-establishment campaign, so the more outrageous, the more "taboo", the more it will work and not just with the crazy right wingers, but with the independents who are sick of establishment politics.

However he will get obliterated by the combined might of the Clinton and Obama political machines when they really crank it up for the GE. He was able to get away with juvenile attacks during the GOP primary, that wont fly in a GE. There is so much stuff the dems can use to sink him. It will probably also significantly affect his businesses. I am sure Trump does not want investigative journalists or opposition researchers starting to dig in some of his past questionable schemes. He might end up in jail.

I said he was no joke in a republican primary when he announced, by late summer said he was a real threat to win the nomination, and said he had it a sleeper hold on the nomination around thanksgiving, that he was gaffe proof by that point in a republican primary.

IMO, a matchup against hillary is very bad for him.

He is a mysoginistic dipshit, and especially if hillary is polling over him just wont be able to refrain from saying stunningly sexist shit toward her.

And, whatever faults Hillary has, she is smart and tough, and tends to react well to attacks, and also knows him very well.

IMO, she will not lower herself to his juvenile level, while still tweaking him, and he will end doing the impossible and actually make a lot of people who arent in love with her view her a little more softly.
