Jan Brewer calls for fewer female candidates: ‘This woman thing has gotten way out of control’

During a discussion on CNN about presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s possible running mates, host Jake Tapper asked Brewer if she would be interested in the job.

“Who made up that list? They didn’t put me on there,” Brewer complained. “Of course, I would be — I would be willing to serve in any capacity that I could be of help with Donald on.”

“Do you think he needs to pick a woman?” Tapper wondered. “Given how bad his numbers are with women.”

“I don’t necessarily think you need to pick a woman,” Brewer insisted. “You know, this woman thing has gotten way out of control I believe.

“And I think it’s been driven by the left,” she remarked. “Because they think that it’s going to bring them over the end. But I think people, when they sit down to vote, they vote for the very best candidate. They want somebody that’s going to represent them.”

I can just imagine Pres. Obama asking:

"Is that finger loaded - or just you?"

How dare half the population want to participate equitably in the workings of our government! The NERVE of them to want equality of opportunity! Harummph! I guess all those women are "uppity" -- Save Ms. Brewer, of course, because she is an Anointed One, an Exception To The Rule!

No, she said that putting up a woman candidate just because she's a woman is out of control. And, I agree.

And, this statement, "But I think people, when they sit down to vote, they vote for the very best candidate. They want somebody that’s going to represent them.” is also true.

Just because she is a Republican doesn't mean a lefty has to disagree with her, or distort what she said. That makes us no better than the Republicans or Fox News.

Yes, it is.

"But I think people, when they sit down to vote, they vote for the very best candidate. They want somebody that’s going to represent them.”

This person is going to do exactly that. Bernie Sanders.

We DO need to stop running women on the sole basis that they are women. Thats sexism right there, IMO.

While I would crawl across broken glass to vote for Elizabeth Warren for President, that wouldn't change if the person's name was Ed Warren.

I just agreed with Jan Brewer. What a weird election cycle this has become.

What she's saying here is that the left has become obsessed with identity politics. And that's a valid complaint. Are we voting for and picking people based on race or gender?

Some people actually got angry at Obama because he nominated Merrick Garland for the Supreme Court...not because of qualifications or ideology, but because he's a white guy.

If you are someone who wants to advocate for racial and gender equality, then you are someone who would support a person without regard to their gender or their skin color. When I am looking for someone to do a job, I don't give a fuck what they are or who they identify as, they just better do the job well. As an egalitarian, that's all I care about.

To vote for Hillary Clinton only because she's a woman is just as bad as voting for Donald Trump only because he's a man. Sexism goes both ways.
