Russell Lee Neighborhood resident, founding University of Texas photography professor and a critically acclaimed Depression-era photographer. A major collection of his work is archived at the University of Texas Briscoe Center for American History, and some of his work hangs in the hallways of the school.
Bettie Mann First African-American teacher at Lee, who spent 37 years at the campus, including 22 years as a full time kindergarten teacher. Her sons were the schools first African-American students in the 1960s.
