Shanghai Disneyland OPENS... to a select few thousand
Even after it got trashed over the May holiday, officials are still pushing right along with the opening of Shanghai Disneyland. In fact, its magical doors are apparently already open to a select few thousand.
While the $5.5 billion resort isn't scheduled to open until June 16th, tens of thousands of Chinese tourists have apparently not been able to wait that long, flocking to wander around outside the gates, ever since the Shanghai Disney metro station opened for commuters.
However, on Saturday, the park kicked off its six weeks of trial operations, with long lines of people clamoring to get in, but mostly failing to do so. The promised land was invite-only, open to staff, their family members and select partners. In total, about 10,000 visitors were allowed in all.
According to Shanghai Daily, these lucky guests were granted exclusive access to rides like: Lives like Tarzan: Call of the Jungle in Adventure Isle, Frozen: A Sing-Along Celebration in Fantasyland, Golden Fairytale Fanfare, Mickeys Storybook Express and fan-favorite Peter Pan's Flight in Fantasyland.
Even with only the crème de la crème invited, guests still complained about agonizingly long lines to get on rides, where they would often have to wait for at least an hour.
