The cable guy took his break in our backyard and was he was so amazed dial up warning

It was raining at sun up. It was a bad morning. My little pride and joy of over a dozen years was going to the vet. We didn't know if he was coming home at that time. He had surgery. He is home sleeping off the meds in my lap under his favorite blanket.

Our cable was out. The cable guy could not get over all the different birds, animals, and sounds. Yes I enjoyed showing off our little friends.

The Orioles are stealing from the hummingbird feeders, so we had to change those around.

The Baltimore Orioles are the orange color. The males are bright orange. The females are the duller orange: https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Baltimore_Oriole/id

We don't have photos yet of our Cat birds, Hummingbirds, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, Indigo Bunting, and Summer Tanagers.

I promised some Oriole pix the other day. This first photo is an Orchard Oriole. We have at least two pair of them. You will see the complete photo in the full collection from this afternoon below. Orchard Oriole: https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Orchard_Oriole/id

They make a lot of noise fighting over the jelly feeders. Here they are.

Luka before age whitened his face up.

This was taken in my recliner just a few days ago. Dug is easy to see because he is mostly white. Luka is farther away and mostly black. That is Luka's ball he will play with for hours. We throw, he brings it back like he is herding sheep.

My left foot sticks out like a sore thumb.

All we get at our feeders is sparrows, mourning doves, starlings, sparrows, squirrels, the occasional cardinal,
a blue jay or two, sparrows and squirrels.

This Cemetery Photo site is owned by Marta Dawes.

Marta had over 400 photos from her web site plagiarized by one person and used on Find a Grave. She has taken thousands of photos and invested so many hours for her hobby. She gets email several times a week from thankful users, often out of town relatives to say thank you: http://www.graveyardsofomaha.com/

Add in we had photos that appeared on the DU show up for sale locally in the farmers market a couple years ago. The excuse was it was a fund raiser for Fontenelle Forest (http://www.fontenelleforest.org/) a non-profit. We contacted the forest and they never heard of them.

Marta has been home on sick leave for over 3 weeks. With the problem with Luka, yesterday wasn't a great day. She was not in the best of moods at the time.

Most of our pix we don't mind sharing for free, often with no watermarks.

Like me she loves animals and promotes a rescue site I post stories from often on her front page:

and morning doves. A bunch of finches and a Blue Jay or 2.

The Cardinals are really numerous. I say 10 pair at least.

We've seen an Oriole or three sipping at our hummer feeders - saw a Bluebird the other day. We have Scrub jays, Moutain Grosbeaks and Stellar Jays now and then - California Kingbirds too. What knocks folks socks off as to our feathered friends is the Hummingbird hordes we host every Spring and Summer. Some evenings - when all the hummers come at once to store up for the night - we can have 80-90 birds vying for seats at the ten feeders we have out. We go thru 2 gallons of "nectar" every day and a half. It really does get hectic when we slip up and forget to make a batch!
Western Goldfinches - out the wazoo this time of year. Hard to keep up with their feeders too. Still, a batch of Orioles like that! Wow!

Beautiful dog.

Scrat I is cute. Our daughter lives 20 minutes away. They have chipmunks. We have too many predators here to have them.

are not well because they can't tell us what's going on.

There is a gorgeous migratory bird that showed up last week and I will download the photos tomorrow--maybe you can identify it. I cannot find it in my bird book. He is yellow orange with a black head and neck, songbird size. Can I pm you?

Every time I put up feeders, I am bombarded with pooping pigeons. I don't have mockingbirds on Kauai, but I do have Mynah's that are smarter than smart and raid the feeders.

We do have just a few doves. Never had a mouse in a feeder that we know of. Some of the feeders have centuries old technology for that. We put them up to keep the squirrels, raccoons, mice, etc from climbing the polls. You can see the baffle in the lower right of the picture.

The only real bird we don't want are the starlings. There are feeders that are starling resistant, we just don't have any (yet).

We do have 3 feeders with cages that the other birds we want have no problem with that keep the starlings out. That is why we leave the bottom of these pictured cages open.

And some feeders don't accommodate the larger sparrows.

The finch's appreciate the three tube and yellow niger feeders.

We have stopped ground feeding the turkeys. Marta loves the crows that depended on that, but we want to get rid of the turkeys for awhile.

Thanks for asking.

I gave up on the feeders. The mynahs are just too damn smart and I can keep the pigeons at bay. I used to put the dog's milk bones in a bowl outside, but then realized the mynahs were lining up waiting for the treats every morning. They also pull every single sprout from a veggie garden.
