Who's with me?
This is exactly who we need to stage our party's Congressional comeback.

(56,582 posts)There's so many places he would do wonderfully: VP, HHS, VA, DNC... he is who we need as the future of the party.

(10,624 posts)I think he could do a lot of good from that position pushing back against some of the police overreach and racially-motivated violence in this country.
Not only do I think he would be uniquely qualified for such a task, it would also help him "atone" in some voters eyes for his perceived transgressions as mayor of Baltimore.
Recursion
(56,582 posts)Great points on all counts there...

Hillary if she's the winner. VEEP'S have to go out and advocate for the POTUS's initiatives. O'Malley having to carry HRC's water as she's drops and/or waters down every progressive thing said on the campaign trail would not be a pretty sight. His political identity would ebb away.
Would hate to see him totally co-opted by the Democratic establishment. Don't want another 3rd way Democrat created.

(6,344 posts)A progressive DNC chair would be the way to go. IMO

(56,582 posts)That would actually be a hard choice for me.

(19,460 posts)He and Hillary also align on gun control so that is another option. I would also have no problem with him on the Supreme Court.
Recursion
(56,582 posts)He would really, really do that well I think.

(31,823 posts)For posters claiming he's not a 'progressive' or 'liberal enough' - also - he doesn't have 'experience'. BTW - didja see the Nina Turner thread asking this question?

(56,582 posts)I think he'll keep exceeding expectations, though....

but the dnc is a political post and it will be someone closer to hrc's aspirations

(1,198 posts)mismanaged that I've stopped contributing (but I'm still giving money directly to candidates) and I have had to demand probably 25 times that the DNC stop hounding me by email.
It would be nice to rejoin support for the DNC.

(50,928 posts)When O'Malley starts talking I'm ready for someone else to start talking. He can't keep up.
Ellison might be a better candidate for that position.
How about Warren?

The demands of money and constant fundraising have ruined
many a good candidate for this position though

(291 posts)Not a fan of the gentleman's policies at all. Sends the wrong message. We need to stop promoting "leaders" that help create the prison-industrial complex. O'Malley should be allowed to retire as the failed politician that he is. We need new leaders, not controlled by special interest cash. Enough is enough.
