Auction listing for Zimmerman's gun that killed Trayvon Martin is removed from Gun Broker's site

George Zimmerman's auction listing for the gun he used to kill unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin appears to have been removed from the GunBroker's website.

The Kel-Tec PF-9 9mm that Zimmerman used in the 2013 shooting was supposed to be auctioned off on Thursday morning with bids starting at $5,000.

Authorities had recently returned the weapon to Zimmerman in working order.

But now it appears as the auction site has taken down the listing.

'Sorry, but the item you have requested is no longer in the system,' the message on GunBroker.com reads.

In the description of the gun that was on the site, Zimmerman wrote: 'Prospective bidders, I am honored and humbled to announce the sale of an American Firearm Icon. '

'The firearm for sale is the firearm that was used to defend my life and end the brutal attack from Trayvon Martin on 2/26/2012.'

When challenged on his decision to sell the gun which robbed a 17-year-old boy of his life, Zimmerman told Fox News 51 he was a 'free American' and so 'can do what I like with my possessions.'

The former neighborhood watch captain said the gun had only recently been returned to him by the Department of Justice following his murder trial.
