...they are saying "we apologize for ever disagreeing with people like Nixon or Reagan in the past, and promise not to so again, other than on minor issues that can't change anything. And we vow to never try to create any other program than conservatism for this country's future".

And they are saying that they don't really care if this party grows in strength or has any clear reason to exist.
