Why would Trump pick Newt Gingrich as his VP?

Obviously, he would not be concerned about his past personal transgressions. But he would like Newt for his expertise in vilifying his opponents. He would admire his Machiavellian qualities. He would like the way Newt went about verbally destroying his opponents. He could use Newt's knowledge of the Congress and the procedures involved in getting things done.

Newt was very effective in getting Jim Wright, the Democratic Speaker, to resign and he was also instrumental in the impeachment of Bill Clinton.

That would also qualify Chris Christie, but Newt is probably an even bigger asshole than Christie so he has a better chance of being selected.
