this is a lake just outside of town and we went and just enjoyed the fresh air and some sun. he grumbled about going initially but seemed to enjoy it once we got there. his appetite has returned and his mood is improving. he even has plans to meet a friend for coffee tomorrow, oxygen tank and all. i can tell he's feeling better because he's cracked a few jokes about the tank being a dog that doesn't do anything cool.
i know we're still a bit from full recovery but i am so happy with how far he's come the last few days.
i've been listening more and hovering less as was suggested and i think that's helped some, too. he's even gone so far as rubbing my back and getting me a drink when i'm half asleep because i've just hit complete exhaustion.
i'll work from home again next week but am actually looking forward to being back in the office and being around people. my job may suck, but my boss has been so flexible and understanding the last few weeks and i need to make sure he knows how much i appreciate that.
again, i want to thank you all for your love and support.

There's something about the open expanse of water that is very healing.

(34,582 posts)I wish I could get out of the house to such scenery. I am glad he is recovering- I know first hand how emotionally draining it can be when your spouse has health issues.

(34,582 posts)it is the mental stress of knowing a loved one is hurting, and not much you can do about it. I hope the idiots in Austin, TX, pull their heads out of their asses, look at the revenue being generated in places like CO and WA, and at least legalize medical marijuana. I don't know if it would work for my wife, but I sure wish we could at least give it a try. It is frustrating.

(108,976 posts)Hope he doesn't get too frustrated if the cough and fatigue hangs around for a while. Even if a person with pneumonia doesn't need oxygen, it can take quite a while (more than a month) to get over the exhaustion.

(9,298 posts)Looks as if you both passed that test with flying colors, fizzgig. But right now I'd say you're each due a heaping portion of good health. Wishing that for you all the days to come, and thanking you for the good-news update.

(6,078 posts)My wife has a myriad of debilitating illnesses, COPD, Spinal Stenosis, Fibromyalgia... and she wonders why I stay with her. I love her. I have since the day I met her. I will never stop loving her and taking care of my baby until my or her last breath. Going on 23 years.
