You can't "walk back" a suggestion to deport 1.5 million muslims

Just like you can't walk back advocating banning the entry of all Muslims into your country.

A decision of that kind of gravity and consequences for an entire demographic of people has to be gotten right the first time by a president.

This illustrates Hillary Clinton's "loose cannon" description of Trump perfectly. It takes a loose cannon to fire in the direction of an entire group of people and then try to "walk it back".

That GOP leaders are even flirting with granting their support to someone who thinks such pronouncements and decisions effecting the lives of millions can be made and retracted with the ease of canceling a meal is despicable.

You get such decisions right the first time by granting them the level of thought they deserved the first time.

No one should be supporting or endorsing someone who gives such decisions so little thought he has to "walk them back" later.

You can't walk back suggestions like that as a leader of the free world.

6. Donald Trump is just telling the fools who like him

what they want to hear. He knows they're stupid and will believe anything he says. He's laughing at them and making fun of them directly to their faces and they're too dumb to realize it.

Trump never really intended to build a damn wall on the border.

He's doing the same thing people like Hillary Clinton does - promise certain things to appeal to her audience (in this case a progressive audience) knowing full well that she really intends to actually do it. It's the American way of politics and both Hillary and Donald see most of us for the fools we really are.

13. I suppose that doesn't apply to Sanders?

I wonder what would be the reaction on this board if Sanders was leading and Hillary was making some of the accusations that Sanders is now making against Hillary? I think that I can safely assume that they would be roundly condemn. Face it, Sanders isn't going to be the Democratic nominee and Sanders is only aiding the Republican's with his desperate attacks. Firstly he isn't a Democrat and never has been one. He hasn't supported Democratic candidates in his entire career and hasn't supported them in this election. While I admire him for his stances, he doesn't belong to the party that I belong to; never has and never will.

7. And yet US polltics is full of faces that have called for expulsion or imprisonment of LGBT
Sat May 14, 2016, 08:02 AM

Mike Huckabee called for relocation camps for people with or at risk for HIV and he never had to 'walk it back' in fact he has repeated his support for the idea when asked.

The fact is that Straight Americans have made it very common place in our politics to employ degrading verbiage and even language of elimination toward LGBT. Politicians who 'just' opposed our rights are lavishly supported.
Hillary claims Ronald Reagan, who was the Villain of the AIDS era, was in fact the first and best hero of those times. The OP and all Hillary supporters found that to be totally acceptable, they had no criticism for that horrible shit whatsoever. In NC, 12 'Democrats' who endorse Hillary voted Yes on that hateful anti transgender bill. She has not distanced herself, she's simply boasted of all her endorsements. She's proud to be endorsed by those who want to keep bathrooms safe!!!!

So OP, it strikes me that there are some groups that you don't mind seeing get the verbal trashing but others you want protected. Hypocrisy.

This cycle has taught me this: Never ever trust Straight Moderates or conservatives in either Party. Ever.

8. You have a point

But you can't deny the culture as a whole, in general, has been historically dumb when it has come to LGBT rights. Many need to progress on this issue, no doubt. That doesn't excuse it but Hillary is not alone in being lost and wrong on such issues. President Obama was excused and allowed to grow on the same issue. Did you vote for Obama?

But we've been through the isolation and incarceration of a large demographic of people -- Japanese-Americans --- before. We've seen it in Nazi Germany..The cultural trend has been to never allow such stupidity to happen again and yet Trump is suggesting doing something similar and repeating a long discredited policy. This is something, that can't be attributed to the general cultural ignorance or trend and can't be walked back.

I'm straight but I wouldn't say I'm a moderate democrat (I do support Sanders over Hillary, if we can get him), but I support you in, generally, not trusting straight moderates until you know who they are and what they stand for.

9. Wait, the person who voted for the Iraq war is talking about "walk backs"...

How many issues has she "evolved" on herself... Or rather, at the time chose something for political expedience, and was then proven dead wrong, and had to flip flop - walk back, her own positions.

Liars calling each other liars.. this is going to be so much fun.

Where has he said he would deport Muslims en masse? Or did you mean illegal immigrants in your OP title?

He said he'd stop letting Muslims in.

On follow-up, he added something like "until we had better vetting procedures." That's bad enough, to be honest.

But this was passed from hand to hand until it became "I'd deport all the Muslims," striking terror into those who believe rumors, until we had the quote we had wanted to hear. When, believing we'd heard what we wanted to hear, we believed that what we wanted to hear was the truth straight along.

So, maybe it won't matter, he will ship the lot of us to some place, he thinks we belong to, I guess, (After we are forced to build his wall.) Probably to the north against Canadians as well. Oh, and what does he do with Native Americans?
And Pacific Islanders?
