The way I see it --he's the best chance there is for divisiveness among the Republican Party. Since 1980 they have been ascending. Trump will take them out of lockstep. Hillary will only be another uniting force. They know how to oppose but they don't know how to lead successfully.
Do I like Trump? Hell. No. Do I like that Trump is a source of trouble for his party which is a victory for America? Absolutely!

(111,245 posts)that we all know is coming because nobody did anything to prevent it. That would mean 3 crashes in a row under GOP presidents. Maybe stupid people would then start to catch a clue that the Republicans have absolutely no clue how to run an economy because their thinking is upsidedown and backwards.
So is the Wall Street Democrat's thinking, but when things crash they have a better idea of what to do about it, even though they're loath to enact the kind of tough reforms that would prevent another one.

(13,100 posts)Having a "witness" from their own party to their crooked ways. Few get to see the real inner workings of their madness. And the fact that Trump has the credibility (from his own celebrity) to broadcast their issues is lovely. But they know that which is why they don't want him. But I do! lol

(6,498 posts)That's a win for Trump, even if he comes in second place.
It's not an election that I want to see.

(7,107 posts)Trump has as much chance in a General Election as my dog.
I did predict when he announced that he would be the GOP nominee, but he has no chance in the General.

(21,740 posts)A Republican President
A Republican senate
A Republican house and
A Republican Supreme Court.
And we like to say the Republican Party is dying?

(37,158 posts)One thing "the way (you) see it" is not taking into account is judgeships. Not just on the Supreme Court, but Federal judicial vacancies up and down the line.
To Trump those are just bargaining chips and doggie treats. He'll use them to buy cooperation from the Movement Conservatives and the Cruz-wing(nuts) of the Teabaggers.
And let's not forget the Bush courtiers who "burrowed down" and stayed in federal agencies when their patronage jobs ran out. You really want a new wave of them?
Those will outlast any Trump presidency, hampering any effort to un-capsize the boat after him.

(66,316 posts)I remember when the brouhaha surrounding the stolen election of 2000 finally died down. I became resigned to a Bush presidency, and I sincerely hoped and believed that he would take a nap for four years, and just avoid breaking anything on the Resolute desk.
I was horribly, horribly wrong.
Trump must not be allowed anywhere near the White House. And anyone bleating 'Hillary's a secret Republican' is doing Trump's work for him.
