http://www.eastidahonews.com/2016/05/yellowstone-tourists-worried-bison-calf-is-cold-so-they-put-it-in-their-car/Richardson says on Monday, as students were being taught at Lamar Buffalo Ranch, a father and son pulled up at the ranger station with a bison calf in their SUV.
They were demanding to speak with a ranger, Richardson tells EastIdahoNews.com. They were seriously worried that the calf was freezing and dying. Rob Heusevelet, a father of a student, told the men to remove the bison from their car and warned they could be in trouble for having the animal.
They didnt care, Heusevelet says. They sincerely thought they were doing a service and helping that calf by trying to save it from the cold.
Law enforcement rangers were called and the father-and-son tourists, who were from another country, were ticketed. Heusevelet says the rangers followed the pair back to where they had picked up the bison, and the animal was released.
I did have an incredible time on my trip though, and will post some pics starting tomorrow.

(2,485 posts)I have no access now, but it said the mother died and it had malnutrition.
Sorry about posting, but had to solely for the interest of animal welfare.

(28,120 posts)Is how could anyone take this calf with his/her mother around. That would've been impossible! Wild animals are extremely protective and combative. And buffalos have been known to die of exposure, especially if their food source is low.
I hope the rangers didn't make a mistake.
Btw, glad you enjoyed Yellowstone; it was my favorite national park--it has everything!

(5,668 posts)well if they tried that with an adult then they wouldn't be talking to the authorities would they X_X then again I'm surprised they are still alive. I'd suggest not coming back to that park because the mother might recognize the car/suv that stole her child
