Robert De Niro Makes Sure To Perfectly Roast Trump During GLAAD Media Awards SpeechYou think youve got it bad, LBGT community? I dont think you know what its like to be really discriminated against I recently turned on the television news and saw this odd guy with little hands, and he was raving. Turns out, the ones being discriminated against are straight, middle-aged white men It makes sense. Ive been losing parts right and left to what used to be called diversity actors. One that really hurts, seeing the role of Dr. Dre in Straight Outta Compton going to Corey Hawkins. And I cant remember the last time I got a Teen Choice Award. Its not easy being a straight, white man.

(1,558 posts)I hate being pulled over for not stopping at a stop sign.
And I'm angry, real angry....
.....for being ignored by the cops while black guys are being frisked in a rough neighborhood....
.....for being assumed by the real estate people that you probably have enough money to buy the house....
.....for being ignored by store security....
.....for being called 'sir' by the cops....
....for being ignored when someone sees my sidearm....
Being white sucks.

Don't listen to millionaire celebrities.

(5,169 posts)But if you are from the wrong side of the tracks, it is not easy. If you are not young, you are pretty much limited to Uber driver, Speedway cashier, or Walmart greeter. The tech field does not want you - your decades of experience are a hinderance, not a help. Your body is too worn out to stock shelves. And there are few factory jobs left.
OTOH, if you are white and polite, or just a little bit mouthy, you have a much lower chance of being beaten or shot by a cop than anyone of color. That is still huge.
It is not easy being a working class white guy, but it is definitely easier than being anyone else.

(15,396 posts)Life isn't easy.
I've been called in to work 3 out of four days so far. I'm 2 months behind at work, and need to schedule 4 training classes this year.
State Farm hasn't released a check to get our vehicle fixed after their driver rear ended our 9yo vehicle. My daughter has played 34 games on two softball teams this year running us ragged. (one game left) Our sons baseball season just started a few weeks ago and we've already played one tournament 100 miles away. We have a Tuesday appt with a surgeon, it looks like another operation is about to happen (7 in the 15 years we've been married)
Two of our vehicles are due for an inspection this month, our pool heater needs repaired, the ATV needs a new starter solenoid. The lists of woes is endless for this wht male.

I sent my son into the gas station for more quarters.
As I put more quarters in the air machine, I said to my kids...
"I told you guys, owning a boat is expensive."
That was 8 years ago. It's still a laugh line in our family.
