Seriously, Nancy Pelosi...WTF? No, I'm serious. WTF? "The Republican Party is the Grand Old Party"

House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi says she has urged Republican colleagues in Congress to "take back your party" from "anti-government ideologues" in their ranks.

"As I view the Republicans in Congress, I don't see them as a real reflection of many Republicans in our country," Pelosi said in an interview Wednesday with NPR's Steve Inskeep on Capitol Hill. "The Republican Party is the Grand Old Party. It's made enormous contributions to the success of our country. And it is a party that has embraced its leadership role when it has had the majority or the White House. ... While we may argue about the size of government, the Republican Party has not been a party that says, 'I want to destroy government.' "

She's right...they just love government to pieces.

"Ted Cruz finally released his grip on the Senate floor after more than 21 hours of speaking about the need to defund Obamacare.

The Texas Republican seized control of the Senate floor on Tuesday about 2:42 p.m. vowing to "speak in support of defunding Obamacare until I am no longer able to stand." Cruz could have spoken all the way up to a 1 p.m. procedural vote on moving spending bill forward, but he relented at noon.".* John Iadarola (TYT University, The Common Room) breaks it down on The Young Turks.

In fact, most Republicans support this. The House is chock full of Ayn Randian whackjobs. Why is she trying to legitimize them?

...she needs to actually name the last year in which they rocked and wish for that. The interview is painful to watch...she talks about how they're all really good people.

9. It seems to be the #1 job of Establishment Democrats to legitimize and prop up Republicans.

The Republican Party would NOT have survived if the Democratic Party had been a true opposition Party to their overwhelming negligence and gross mismanagement of our country in so many different and important areas.

Establishment Democrats continue to scream and demand bipartisan solutions. They should not be doing that with how reckless and irresponsible the Republican Party has become. They should be exposing them and FIGHTING them (and for average Americans).

They don't so they are to blame as well.

We need to overthrow the current Establishment. Desperately.

It's not a bad argument... for 1998. You know, back when people believed in nuance, science, and equality and the American Dream didn't come bundled with a giant F.U.

8. Uh, Nancy, your advice in this matter is useless and irrelevant

Uh, Nancy, your advice to the R's to "take back" their party from the crazies is useless and irrelevant. Today's Republican Party is a creature of the Right, and your Republican colleagues know it. They know that if they step out of line and start governing sanely, they're going to be primaries by the Whack-jobs.

IMO, I don't think the Republican Party can be saved from its crazies. They own it lock, stock, and barrel. The remaining sane conservatives (Assuming that there still are any) are doomed to play the role of "useful idiots" to zanies like Ted Cruz and Mike Lee.

The GOP congressional reps are beyond taking advice.

Far better to speak to their voters and say that it would be better for their fellow-constituents and for the country to let the Republican Party as an institution die a well-deserved death, and good riddance.
