I am sooooo jealous of you because of your Prime Minister. Liberal, smart, reasonable and, oh yea, adorably sexy. He reminds me a lot of our John Kennedy Jr., and what he could have become had he lived long enough. You are fortunate to have him represent you. And you have Healthcare for all. There is that too. So, hello to our wonderful northern neighbors - enjoy your good fortune!

But, yeah, Trudeau's the real deal and Canada has a lot the USA could learn from and implement.

(3,014 posts)It's not a just show up and get to stay type place. CIC has a fairly lengthy process (and timeline). If you are an investor or have a degree or profession needed, of course it's faster.

(9,999 posts)My admiration for him came from his interview on the Daily Show where he talked about Canada's welcoming acceptance of Syrian refugees. His stance on this was so refreshing after listening to our GOP congressmen and Presidential frontrunner using scare tactics to demonize these refugees as assumed terrorists. I guess like everyone else, there is good and bad in him. But I still think my overall impression of him remains positive but if you are Canadian, then you undoubtedly know much more about him than I do. Thank you for sharing that link - I'm always happy to learn more.

I don't know if power is going to his head or what...

(253 posts)I don't think power has gone to his head. I see it as a reaction to the opposition slinging mud at his wife over the past week. Also reacting to the opposition's perceived dragging their heels on a vote. Whatever happened, he needs to learn to keep his cool. I know he has a hot temper, he's had to apologize for it in the past but it's only been verbal before. Grabbing the conservative whip is physical (I do think the elbowing of the NDP MP was accidental) and cannot be tolerated.

To be honest with you, we are fearing if Trump wins the Presidency. Most of us like Bernie but it does not seem he will win the nomination. Mrs. Clinton - we are ambivalent, 30 years fighting for the same and not getting anywhere is not progressive. However, she is better than Trump!
