Salon.com (not about content of the site)

Every time I try to go to Salon.com I take a trip back in time to the dial-up world of the late 1990s- early 2000s. My browsers just hang there with the hourglass. When this happens, my entire laptop decides to hang as well, as I can do nothing until it unfreezes. This can take up to several minutes. Then, once it stops freezing and I can scroll again, Salon suddenly decides to send me back to the top of the page, irrespective of where I am on the page, be it a few stories down or near the bottom. Actually, this latter quirk happens whether or not the page has frozen to begin with.
Just wondering if this is just me...?
I use both Chrome and Firefox.
Thanks for any input...
Thought this was OK for GD...

If I want to read an article on Salon, I usually copy and paste it to notepad in order to avoid the constant jumping around.

of the sort that kidnap your browser and hold it hostage.

I also get very frustrated with Raw Story, because it jumps all over the place on my tablet. Again, the problem seems to be caused by the ads.
