No solid leads. No transponder signals. Just vanished once again. If they can't find a plane in the Mediterranean, they'll never find one in the Indian Ocean. But that's another story.
I don't understand how an airplane can disappear in the Med.

The one in the Indian Ocean was lost on purpose by one of the pilots. That's kind of a special case.

(111,136 posts)before it dropped off radar. If it went straight down, it'll take a few days for things to bob up to the surface.
It sounds like there was a struggle in the cockpit and/or one of the crew decided to commit suicide and take a whole lot of people with him.

That's just what it looks like from the report of what happened to the plane just before it disappeared.

(11,619 posts)Being heavily traveled, there is a lot of junk floating out there, so a debris field is not easy to find.
Give them a day or two.
