I'm not sure that he knows that breaking the economy or the country can't be reset by declaring bankruptcy - like he has done in the past at least a few times for his companies.

(14,255 posts)But the 1% will be just fine, and Wall Street would get bailed out, as usual. Whether we have a Trump or Hillary presidency.
When asked where TPP stands now, Ryan said, Right now I dont see the votes there for TPP, because I think the administration negotiated an agreement that has some problems in it, has some flaws in it, and theyre going to have to figure those out and work those out if they want to get the votes to pass it through Congress, which I just dont see the votes there right now.
TPP MAY NEVER SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY.

(2,062 posts)Sorry total bullshit, its not totally up to the president, its up to congress to pass treaties. The president can initiate treaties but......
The Constitution provides that the president "shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two-thirds of the Senators present concur"

(942 posts)Fast Track was created to pass trade agreements by limiting amendments. Renewal was passed by majorities in congress and signed by Obama in 2015.
Executive agreements - changes the vote threshold from a Treaty (2/3 Senate vote) to a simple majority and a Presidential signature.

None of these stupid trade deals (NAFTA, WTO, TPP, TTIP) are or were "Treaties". They are all executive agreements.
Clinton could have vetoed NAFTA and the WTO.
Obama could stop TPP and TTIP instead of pushing it.

(23,156 posts)He hasn't a clue how government really operates. He's at best only vaguely familiar with the Constitution. He thinks that if he's President it will be like a very long-running episode of "The Apprentice" and that he'll be able to fire anyone he wants, including sitting Congressmen, Senators, and Supreme Court Justices. He'll think he can just tell the military to bomb somewhere and they'll do it.
It will be a very rough four years.

By himself.
Because there ain't no way in hell Congress is going to appropriate money for such a stupid idea.
Unless of course, Rockwell or Lockheed Martin or Northrup Grumman bid on it. Then it's a go. Because Defense Contractors get all the money they want.
