My name is Steven Vincent and I am running for Oklahoma State Senate District 45. Due to a technicality, I have been removed from the ballot but I am fighting to get back on. My case is going to the Oklahoma Supreme Court on June 2, and I think I have a good chance of prevailing. This is both exciting and terrifying. My opponent is a right wing republican who has been personally responsible for running the state budget into the ground. This year we face a 1.3 billion dollar deficit because of tax breaks for the wealthy and oil companies and the republican solution is to cut school lunches, fire teachers, close rural hospitals, eliminate the earned income tax credit for the poor, change the state constitution to allow religious symbols at the capitol and to outlaw abortion (I wish I was joking).
My facebook page is: https://www.facebook.com/groups/vincent4senate/
I look forward to bringing Oklahomans an alternative to right wing religious politics that have failed our state over and over again and hope they will embrace a logical change but I live in a predominantly republican and extremely gerrymandered district.

(22,031 posts)In brief, the incumbent State Senator Kyle Loveless gamed the Oklahoma electoral system to remove Mr. Vincent from the ballot. There's an article on Mr. Vincent's Facebook page that makes clear that should the Oklahoma State Supreme Court use logic and jurisprudence to adjudicate the case, Mr. Vincent will be on the ballot. I've tried several times to provide the link but it doesn't work quite right; here it is:

I think I'll make a small donation to his campaign.

(6,699 posts)I am thrilled the Butler, the right-wing rubber stamp from our representative district in Washington State, has a qualified opponent from the Washington State Senate who is challenging her for her seat in the US House.
This empty-headed rubber stamp has been an insult to a predominantly democratic constituency for the past six years, ever since Brian Baird gave up and retired from his seat.
One small step for recovering control of the house, but a small step in the right direction. I'll be offering my help in any way possible to get him elected and boot her out of the house. I'll canvass door-to-door and I'll man the phone bank and anything else I can do to help him become a US Representative from our district.

(2,390 posts)but the Republicans have made such an incredible mess of things that even right wing Okies are turning away from the Republican party. Our budget deficit this year is 1.3 billion dollars and teachers are being laid off. Okies are finally realizing that trickle down economics is a joke and their kids are suffering as a result.

(2,390 posts)Until the court decides I am a candidate, I am waiting to accept any contributions. I don't want to run afoul of election laws. Maybe by June 3, I will be up and running.
