Oklahoma Governor Vetoes "Insane" Abortion Bill

On Friday afternoon, Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin vetoed a bill that would have made performing most abortions a felony in the state. On Thursday, the Oklahoma Senate passed the bill 33-12, with no floor debate. During the voting process, Sen. Ervin Yen, the sole state senator who is a physician, called the measure "insane."

As Mother Jones reported in April, the bill would make performing abortions, except for those intended to save a woman's life, a felony punishable by a minimum of one year in prison.

She is so right wing that I expected her to be in full agreement. But maybe she realized it would cost a fortune to defend it in court.

The last thing the all-up-in-your-womb and bedroom righties want is common sense, or be forced to mind their own fucking business.

is because OK doesn't have the $$ to fight what will surely be a losing case before SCOTUS, not because she all of a sudden had a come to Jesus moment about interfering with women's health care choices.

those facts won't change the backlash coming her way. Plus, the law goes down and won't be enforced... that's a small win for the women of OK. Until the next time.

To the very real possibility that their freedoms are at risk.

Some of us are old enough to have known women, like my own mother, who were forced to endure illegal back-ally abortions.

They're not "pro-life" inthe least.
