What is unusual is the line, as Pathoes reports, that states: Given the debate and confusion in our society about marriage and human sexuality it is vital that Trinity families agree with and support the schools traditional, Christian understanding of those issues.
Therefore, when the atmosphere or conduct within a particular home is counter to the schools understanding of a biblical lifestyle, including the practice or promotion of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) lifestyle or alternative gender identity, the school should have the right, in its sole discretion, to deny the admission of an applicant or discontinue enrollment of a current student.
This means if you have a gay sibling who doesnt even attend the school, or you have parents that support marriage equality, the school could expel you.

(5,781 posts)So if you live in a neighborhood with really crappy public schools, and you have the disposable income, Christian/Catholic school often becomes the next option. All kinds of kids go to Catholic school, for example.
The difference is that most faith-based schools feel a sense of obligation to educate children, even if they are not of the same faith, and even if (or possibly especially if) the parents have a lifestyle of which the church disapproves.

(62,444 posts)These schools are expressly for parents who do not want their children to be around non-Christians and non-Christian ideas.

(8,303 posts)are expelled if they go off the rails and won't respond to correction.
Students can be expelled for drinking, smoking, toking, drugging or just following or espousing a non-Biblical lifestyle.
These types of schools don't accept a lot of students, and to be honest, families that don't share their beliefs don't want to have their kids exposed to that doctrine.

(8,303 posts)This is more like a seminary than an average religious school. It is one brand of Christianity and a hard-core version of it; the school's mission statement is that the religious values are supposed to be taught in a partnership between the school and the family.
It is what it is, and I agree with you - if a family doesn't hold this type of Christian belief, why would they want their kids in this school? There are certainly others!

(8,303 posts)It appears this is a religious "religious" school. They vary in the intensity and focus.
Just like the Catholic school that wouldn't admit the child of lesbians, because they said it would be bad for the child (their teachings would disrupt the child's family), if this school is teaching a strict orthodox Christian doctrine I would think it could cause family problems.
The school doesn't accept children whose families don't go to an orthodox church, or who don't believe in the Bible.
Students who challenge the doctrine they are teaching or who don't abide by the abstinence rules (no alcohol, drugs, sex, etc) will be expelled.
This is one aspect of the larger package.
Would any family with a gay member who accepted that gay member would WANT to send their child to this school? It seems like child abuse!!
