Viral Video Shows Womans Infectious Laugh While Wearing Electronic Chewbacca Mask
Candace Payne went to Kohls and found a hidden treasure: A $20 talking Chewbacca mask that will probably sell out, now that the moms selfie video has gone viral.
In a simple four-minute video posted to her Facebook page, Payne tries on the mask and bursts into laughter again and again. Maybe its her central casting-worthy chortle, or her soothing delivery or the sight of Chewbacca with a mismatched lady voice coming out of his mouth, but something about it really hit people the right way.
Payne posted the video on her Facebook page on Thursday, and by Friday afternoon it had more than 64 million views. She made the front page of Reddit, where thousands of users admired her contagious mirth. She was even congratulated by a Reddit account belonging to Peter Mayhew, the actor who portrayed Chewbacca in the original Star Wars trilogy.
Absolutely wonderful! he wrote.
Theres strong evidence to suggest happiness is contagious in social networks. If that is true, and it certainly seems to be, consider Candace Payne the latest patient zero.

(20,453 posts)And, if I'm really patient, someone will understand product demand, and sell them again, which (in turn) will yield to the idea of OTHER really cool characters. Sure hope there isn't a patent protecting that proliferation of product.
Can you imagine the possibilities?
- "I Love Lucy" masks with a "waahhh"
- "Richard M Nixon" masks with "I am not a crook!"
- "Sheldon" mask with "Bazinga!"

(56 posts)...just kidding..but I did some poking around on this mask..it's sold out everywhere, and Walmart sells them at $20.00...right now they are $100-$200 on Flea-bay, and some other sites. Crazy!
That lady is sure funny in the video though. Great sense of humor.

(29,655 posts)had one of those laughs that could start a crowd laughing......you've heard them, usually in a studio audience, there's always one laugh that really stands out, that would have been my sister. She died 6 years ago today. Miss her terribly, but am reminded of her with stories like this. Don't mean to bring this thread down. Just my 2 cents.
