The Hispanic vote doesn't include Cubans

While Rubio and Cruz were candidates, many brain-dead Republicans thought that either one of them could bring in "The Hispanic Vote."

Both Rubio and Cruz are of Cuban descent. And they are totally unrepresentative of the Hispanic vote. Here's why:

Most Cubans, for the past 40+ years have been Republican voters. The vast majority of other Hispanic Americans have voted for Democrats. The reason is because the Republican Party has always hated the "Cuban Commies" (since Castro took over) and welcomed all Cuban refugees who could set foot onto American soil. (Google wet foot/dry foot). But anyone from Mexico, Central America or South America were persona-non-grata.

It's amazing how long the Republicans have gotten away with this scam. But the seams are showing this year. Neither Rubio nor Cruz could win shit. And if one of them had gotten the nomination, they would have lost the non-Cuban Hispanic vote in a landslide.

And Trump will not pick either one of them as his running mate. (Unless his operatives have done the math and found that the Cuban vote is needed to help put him over the top in the general election.)

Many of you understood for years what I've stated here. But if you're younger and are not aware of the history of the second half of the 20th century, Google wet foot/dry foot and find out why most Hispanics are not big fans of Cubans.

On a more positive note, many younger Cubans who were born and grew up here "get it." They know that the Republican Party is poison to "The Other."

are Repukes - thankfully, not many/most of the later generations. To start with, there is a Right/Left divide in any country and those were on the wingnut side in Cuba before they ran out of there. Then, to top it off they blamed JFK and therefore the Dem Party for the Bay of Pigs.

On the home front of Mexican-Americans, there are issues of prior poverty, being discriminated against (Cubans not so), backbreaking labor, just *being* here longer while watching the Cubans being welcomed with open arms and ZOOMING to top spots in government...
