Leonard Peltier: 2016 Clemency Application

Just got this in an email. Maybe this is finally the time. You can see the entire application, which is interesting.

http://www.whoisleonardpeltier.info/general/leonard-peltier-2016-clemency-application/

These are also what they recommend doing-

Ask President Obama to grant clemency to Leonard Peltier. Call President Obama at 202-456-1111 or 202-456-1414 (M-F, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., EST). Send an email to President Obama: http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/submit-questions-and-comments. Post a comment on Obama’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/potus. Send a tweet to President Obama: @POTUS. And don’t forget to write a letter: President Barack Obama, The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20500. You also can send a post card to the President: http://www.whoisleonardpeltier.info/home/store/send-a-postcard-to-the-white-house/.

Yes, it's from a website advocating that Peltier be freed; but this stands out more than anything:

During oral argument, the government attorney conceded that the government does not know who shot the agents, stating that Mr. Peltier is equally guilty whether he shot the agents at point-blank range, or participated in the shoot-out from a distance. Mr. Peltier’s co-defendants participated in the shoot-out from a distance, but were acquitted.

Keep in mind that this was an utterly politicized and runaway FBI still reeling from J. Edgar Hoover - the very personification of a third world-style despot (although they probably cross-dressed a lot less).

I would like to see President Obama sign two full and unconditional pardons, one for Leonard Peltier and one for Don Siegelman, give them identical date/time stamps and announce that those two pardons together constitute his last official act as president.

Mumia Abu Jamal - a case fairly similar to Peltier's.

The chances are slim to none though.

It should get more open discussion. It might have better chances if there were more open discussion.

or have been utterly indoctrinated to believe that Jamal is guilty and then some.

Most of these cases involving political frame-ups truly are hopeless, sorry to say.
