the surreal success of Donald Trumps candidacy, whose historical tagline may well be All I know is whats on the Internet.
Those were his exact words, a blithe excuse for his mistaken assertion that a protester at one of his rallies had ties to Islamic extremists. Hed seen a video somewhere. Hed chosen to take it at face value. His intelligence wasnt and isnt vetted but viral and conveniently suited to his argument and needs. With a creative or credulous enough Google search, a self-serving truth can always be found, along with a passel of supposed experts to vouch for it and a clique of fellow disciples.
pretty good article about the problems in media today...we are constantly presented with views that confirm our own..

All this nonsense about "careful, investigational journalism" is probably from the same group that supports scientists pushing the global warming hoax. Liberal lies, every last one of 'em!

110% false.
Why won't it stop being repeated. Because it feeds into the bigotry and prejudices of the people who share it. There are some that will not fact check it, but forward it. There are some who will fact check it, find out it is a lie and forward it anyhow. In their mind they think it COULD be true at some point in the next 100 years, so who cares.
How does this relate to the OP.
Trump doesn't care if it is true or not, it just has to sound that it might be true at some point in the future. Intellectually lazy, his belief system doesn't need to based in facts. He has the followers to prove it.
