The thing that scares me the most about Trump is...

Not so much Trump. Yeah, he is bad enough.

What scares me even more is what comes next if this asshole pulls it off.

I don't think he believes half of what he says. He's an asshole and a bigot, there is no doubt. But I don't think he ever intended to get this far.

If he pulls this off, we are fucked. In the short term (his term) and the long term - when some true believer realizes they can get that far letting it all hang out.

except that Stern always planned to drop out at some point. What's going on now would be hilarious if it were a movie or a comedy bit, but it's not. I think that Trump's ignorance of the presidency permits him to think he would be a good one reinforced by the ignorance of gop primary voters.

I think he will turn it over to the Repig establishment. We'll see all the same characters that rotate in and out of business and think tanks depending on which party is in office.

Don't get me wrong, those people can do plenty of damage on their own (see:Iraq). With idiot Trump at the helm it could be a lot worse.

What scares me is some nut case that really wants to govern. That would be next if this works.

of governmental affairs, Trump will probably fob off running the country to his advisors, as Reagan is said to have done. Should he--God forbid--get elected, we all need to hope Trump surrounds himself with competent people.

I think he will mostly turn things over to the Josh Boltons of this world.

Competent? Not in my opinion. But competent as far as repigs go.

But only because he really doesn't give a shit. Like GWB.

The next guy who DOES give a shit but uses the same tactics to get elected could make trump look like a picnic.

Then people started voting for him, and his ego won't allow him to drop out.

If there are enough ill informed, ignorant, spiteful voters out there to get him elected, we are well and truly fucked.

I didn't think the Republicans could field a worse candidate than GWB, but I was wrong.

If Donald Trump is elected president, our country will be in a precarious state. What's worse is that a majority of US voters will have expressed their desire to have him run the country. What does that tell you about the cognition of our fellow citizens?

He is only obsessed with one thing, and that is personal glory and power.
If he thought he would get more votes by appealing to people's better angels, that is exactly what he would be doing.
He is just aware that fear, bigotry, and hate work better.
Ask your Trump voter friends if they would buy a used car from him.

He will appoint a shit ton of people to offices that may receive little scrutiny. These people will have tremendous amounts of power that will go unchecked. Trump may not be that smart but there are evil geniuses riding his coattails.
