I mean that in a literal sense.
Indiana was a real turning point...as a native Hoosier (turned Michigander) I know how robotically Republican it can be outside the major cities/university towns (especially Bloomington, which is so unlike the rest of Indiana it should have customs/border checks at the county lines!).
This man seems sure to be in the White House after November. I don't mean to sound cynical. What I am is scared shitless, not just of him, but of his followers.
I know people on the left are using, Godwin's Law be damned, Nazi comparisons with him. I don't think so. I think he is much more a Mussolini-type, and Mussolini had the Blackshirts, which the behaviour of the Trumpbots seems disturbingly close to at times.
I'm a Sanders supporter but if he doesn't get the nomination I will support Hillary as the only, best hope of keeping this man out of office.
However, he has seemingly-bottomless wells of cash to draw from, so that he doesn't need to suck up to Corporate America (he's one of theirs anyway), whenever he opens his pie hole he seems to get more and more followers, not to dig himself into a hole...I've never seen it in my lifetime of 50 years.
Can this man be stopped? I'm not trying to foment any sort of conspiracy theory, but does anyone really think that Hillary will be able to stop him?

(4,176 posts)Everyday more Americans are convinced Drumpf is someone he isnt.
And so many mainstream uninformed Americans are angry and tired of being shit on, and most can be counted on to blame the wrong people.
I predicted a while ago he will win, sort of.
He cant actually win in that he has to rely on voter ID, but with that help; he can take the WH, yes.

(813 posts)...I live within walking distance of Canada. Maybe I can be granted political refugee status, because I believe that if he and his followers get into power, it may be our last semi-free election.
Call that fear-mongering if you like, but it's how I feel.
That said, he doesn't scare me nearly as much as his followers do.

(4,176 posts)It would almost be fitting, though.
That we have become so stupid, so uninformed, so immature and childish, electing Drumpf would be the ultimate proof of that.

(813 posts)I think that Trump's ascension is also the pinnacle of the pissed-off "we're not gonna take it anymore, without defining what 'it' means," right-wing bile that has been building since at least the Bill Clinton administration. It's been aided, abetted and fed by RW hate media to the point that, frankly, if he isn't elected I look for a violent reaction from his followers.
I can see the same thing if Gene Simmons were to run for President, except that he can't, since he was born in Israel - they strike me as being VERY similar: it's all about me, me, me and how much money I make, and how great I art...Simmons is quite far to the right himself.
I also doubt we will see another black President during my lifetime. I'm 50 and I didn't believe I would see one during my lifetime, but with the hatred and venom that has been stoked by the country daring to elect a TWO-TERM black President, I doubt that the Democratic Party will be quick to get behind nominating another one. It sucks, but I think it's true.
What I really fear for is Social Security with Trump in the WH and a Republican lock on Congress.
What I really don't get as a veteran is how many other veterans worship this guy, given the hate they gave Bill Clinton over "draft-dodging" and Trump got FIVE deferments! Of course, it's been many years since I served, and I understand that the military now is basically the armed wing of the GOP...which again amazes me given all the chickenshit/chickenhawks that are prominent in the Republican party (Limbaugh, Nugent, etc.), and how the far right ignores Democrats who are war heroes; i.e., Tammy Duckworth. Hell, I've had RW's on other fora tell me that I'm lying about my service since I'm not a Republican...to hell with them, though...I have enough documentation to the contrary, including a little piece of paper saying "Honourable Discharge."

(813 posts)Ace was the best musician in that band. His solo album from 1978 is the best thing to come out of the original lineup; in fact, he played almost all the instruments on it except drums, which were played by Anton Fig, who later became David Letterman's drummer. He was also the most colourful character in the band offstage; he was called the "Dean Martin" of the group. I saw him with his solo band Frehley's Comet in 1987 - quite entertaining. Ace attempted to tell jokes between songs but always lost the punch line. His personality reminded me of Ralph Malph from "Happy Days."
Of course, I'm speaking as a lead guitarist myself.
Simmons would openly admit that what you say about him is true. He says "when people say we sell out I tell them, 'yes, we sell out every night we play.'" He also openly admits he has very few friends and that's OK with him - he prefers to have "business associates."
Just like Trump.

(4,516 posts)will also be his patsy. He will choose someone who will sink him like a rock and then blame that person for his loss. Oh poor, poor me. ( ) lost the election, we would have won if......In the end he will write a new book his followers will lap up like dogs, and ride into the sunset.

(72,790 posts)Do more people want Clinton or Trump? It all depends on which candidate gets the people out to vote. (DUH).
I think Trump can be stopped, but Clinton needs to convince those on the fence that she is the right person for the job. Should be a very, very interesting election.
