Compassionate Conservative

I first heard this term used during W's term.
It would seem to me that a compassionate conservative is not the normal makeup of a conservative, perhaps abnormal.
So I guess we can assume that conservatives are not generally compassionate

You never hear of a Compassionate Democrat

Living, for the time being, in central Illinois and being overwhelmingly surrounded by folks who identify and vote as cons, I have never, NEVER, met one who is actually a compassionate conservative. Excluding compassion for money and maybe each other, they are, without exception, the exact opposite of compassionate.

I've found, given enough time even the few who, at first, seem to be reasonable will make racial, sexist and bigoted comments about just about anyone who doesn't mirror their own images,as they prattle on about the things this or that group doesn't deserve.

Compassionate Conservative... That's hilarious.
