Gov. Martinez won’t attend Trump rally in Albuquerque
By Dan Boyd / Capitol Bureau Chief
Monday, May 23rd, 2016 at 4:11pm

Gov. Susana Martinez will not be in the audience when presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump makes a high-profile campaign stop in Albuquerque tomorrow night.

Martinez told reporters after a news conference in Albuquerque today that she will not attend the event.

When asked why, the two-term GOP governor said she was “really busy.”

“I’m the governor of New Mexico and I’m really focused on what’s going on here in New Mexico — just like the announcement we just did with 100 new high-tech and research jobs, improving the education for our kids, another job announcement tomorrow,” Martinez said. “Those are the things that I’m concentrating on and I’m going to keep concentrating on.”

Martinez, who is the chairwoman of the Republican Governors Association, has thus far remained mum on whether she’ll back Trump. Her stance has drawn scrutiny from national Democratic groups, who have called on her to state a position.

KOB 4 NBC TV reports
New Mexico's Republican Governor, Susana Martinez, has publicly stated her opposition to Trump's plan to build a large wall separating the U.S. and Mexico and has yet to endorse him. Her spokesman, Chris Sanchez, has not said whether or not she will attend Tuesday's event at this point.

But the head of the Democratic Party in New Mexico did not hold back from criticizing both Trump and Martinez.

"Donald Trump's racist rhetoric and reckless policy ideas are not welcome in New Mexico. Trump's candidacy has brought the worst out in our country, and as Democrats we denounce his harmful attitudes toward our Hispanic communities, his offensive comments about women, and his outlandish policy ideas," Democratic Party of New Mexico Chairwoman Debra Haaland said in a statement Thursday. "Governor Martinez's skittish behavior about giving him her support is a clear indication of how divisive his candidacy has been." http://www.kob.com/albuquerque-news/donald-trump-rally-set-in-albuquerque/4143508/#.V0RhTeSm0n7

The news on a local radio station 99.5 FM also reported Martinez disapproved of several comments by Trump; but the picture is from a similar report at KOAT ABC TV 7:

No reason to blame Clinton or Sanders for anarchists acting stupid at a protest.

Anyone who was part of the anti-Bush protests remembers masked anarchists occasionally causing problems back then as well.

They're violent stalkers out to discredit the progressive movement. At times police have even posed as them to justify swinging their billy clubs at peaceful protestors.

Read about 'em ==> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_bloc They need to be video'd and followed whenever they disrupt popular rallies. They're scum.

It actually doesn't matter what the article says.

The author of the OP merely rewrites news reports on "hot" items and posts them here on DU to collect the clicks. It is all rsexaminer has ever done or will do on DU.

He would not be the first one to do that there is someone else here that posts exclusively from one news site that does something similar can't think of the name off the top of my head but I know I called them on it a week or so ago and it wasn't this same site or screen name.

Having said that the story does appear to be true regardless of the click bait site.

It was settled from Mexico and used to be part of Mexico and a lot of people here self identify as proud Mexican Americans. His remarks about the criminality of Mexicans were taken very personally by a lot of people.

He is not liked out here by much of anyone. I imagine attendees were there to see the freak show, not open their checkbooks.

People raising hell outside the venue are not going to help him here.

rather than Mexican-Americans. It's a subtle distinction to those unfamiliar with the history, but they get offended if you call them Mexican Americans. The old families settled in New Mexico while it was still part of Spain, before Mexico was a country.
