You know that old ridiculous belief among REPUBs that THEY TOO can be Donald Trump, so it doesn't matter what happens to anyone else.

I used to just be unbelievably embarrassed by the ignorance. Now, I am unbelievably scared.

Drumpf already dumb-ified it for them last night at his rally. "Well of course I'm going to buy when things are cheap, I'm a successful businessman!"

The crowd lapped it up as usual. Honestly he could tell them they're all a bunch of uneducated fucksticks and they'd cheer.

This is actually a bad idea to campaign against Trump with Trump-style rhetoric and imagery.

First of all, it is vital for Democrats to recognize what kind of person is attracted to Trump and to spend their time NOT talking to or trying to reason with those people. Instead, get ALL of the people that would support her fired up and to the polls.

Turn out.
Turn out.
Turn out.

That is the ONLY way the Democratic nominee wins. BErnie supporters are far more excited to vote FOR him than for the party. Hillary loses by 3-5% if she can't convince enough of those people to turn out for her.

If they want to practice for this, start trying to convince a Young Earth Creationist of the validity of the science behind the theory of Evolution. The response you get will be IDENTICAL to the response you'll get from Trump supporters by trying to PROVE ANYTHING to them. They are emotionally invested in preventing a woman presidency, but even more so preventing a Hillary presidency. Emotionally motivated voters are not going to be swayed by emotional pleas or facts or proving anything to them. The root cause is that they hate her. Telling them how wrong they are won't change it...

We saw that in 2012 with Romney when he won a large majority of white voters.

He has to draw other voters and ads like this stop them from voting for him.

And there is so much other material out there on Trump — him calling Latinos rapists and criminals should make a very effective ad. All of his sexist comments on women also will work. Him encouraging violence at his rallies could be another, and on and on and on.

It's just getting started.

This hard-hitting video doesn't fit the prevailing DU majority narrative that "SHE'S LOSING TO TRUMP...OMG! OMG! OMG!"

Too many nominal DUers have no interest whatsoever in demonstrating that HRC has a top-notch team who will hand Trump his ass.

This won't move Trump's brainwashed supporters at all, but it will set the independent swing voters to thinking.

Trump's floor is his floor regardless of what he says or does or what the opposition says. That's pretty clear by now.

"Too many nominal DUers have no interest whatsoever in demonstrating that HRC has a top-notch team who will hand Trump his ass."

I think many of them are in denial that that same top-notch team is helping her win the primary against their guy. "I refuse to believe this is happening" translates into "I don't see how she can beat Trump".

I fear it will play into the idea that Trump is a "savvy businessman" who will "make great deals for America".

That seems to be how he is able to spin this kind of thing generally.

It won't stop them but may put them on the back foot.

It does help define the narrative about Trump: The only time he shows competence at business (rather than the business of show) is when he is bottom feeding off the misery of others.

Typically in the early part of a GE you want to turn your opponent's strengths into weaknesses. This ad is RIGHT to focus on myth busting the 'Trump is genius businessman' nonsense but in talking about the bubble and him saying that there is an opportunity to buy when real estate bubbles crash, it doesn't get the myth busted.

Better would have been:

Infographic rolling timeline of Trump's draft dodging, bankruptcies, shady deals, mob connections, failed marriages, casinos gone broke, etc. Super over clips of people applying that orange make up to Trump or anything that visually says this guy is a polished turd, as fake as his hair.

Get a lot of hits that will resonate with his supporters into the 30 seconds. Bust the myth, paint him as a phony and approve this message. Done.

We need a better messenger.

Trump won't release taxes - Hillary's hording of transcripts compromises the message.

Trump involved in real estate scam - Hillary's Whitewater escapade blunts the message.

Trump overplays his hand on response to terrorism - Hillary's "we came, we saw, he died" laugh track drowns the message.

Etc., etc., etc. It is a pattern

jail (but don't worry, Bill pardoned her), 14 others were also convicted, etc. You must remember this - it was in all the newspapers.

I'm not saying that the Clintons committed crimes in connection with Whitewater (they didn't), but they were neck deep in a genuine real estate scam that resulted in 15 people getting convicted.

This is historical fact. Calling it a "Republican meme" dilutes that argument when justly applied to real witch-hunts like the Vince Foster nonsense. Whitewater actually happened. It was documented in many courts of law.

Yes, Drumpf DID root for the housing crash to happen so he could cash in on it, and that's despicable, but they need to then take it to the next step. The next step is pointing out that in that very same interview, Drumpf, in his infinite wisdom, predicted that the housing market would NOT crash. So you can see, he's really got his finger on the pulse of American economic issues.
