[REVISED!!] TPM: Trump caught lying about $1m donation to fundraiser for vets

Last edited Thu May 26, 2016, 05:19 PM - Edit history (1)

Original post below: I need to clarify this. I misread and used the writer's phrase "skim". On further evaluation, all Trump did was keep the million he said he'd donate, not steal a million dollars donated by others. That difference should be clarified. Still scummy, but not the clean line of attack I'd thought when I first posted this.

Jeeze--how low can you get? I imagine Trump ain't done yet with shocking me, tho'

We now know that Donald Trump tried for four months not to contribute any of his own money for that vets group fundraiser he put on in January as an excuse to ditch that Fox debate. Only when the Post finally cornered him and basically proved that all his and his aides shifting explanations were false, did he finally agree to put in some of his own money.

He was in essence trying to skim a million off the top of the fundraiser for the vets he used as a prop to skip out on the debate. This comes on top of the fact that he's still leaving himself the option of having high-dollar GOP donors reimburse him for his primary campaign to the tune of tens of millions of dollars.

Considering what Trump's word is usually worth, I'd like to see something a little more substantive than his agreement to do something: Canceled check, wire transfer confirmation, etc.

Just watch him declare bankruptcy and force his creditors to take pennies on the dollar. That's how scammers like him roll.

If Ms. Inevitable has any chance at all in November, it'll hinge on a strong Gary Johnson candidacy - and news like these.

That's always been the Donald's greatest weakness: lack of self control.

does he have to be a piker over a measly one million? Then again, look what is in the news today. Trump made out on buying homes for cheap when people lost them during the recession and brags about it. After all, he's a business man!! It's legal. Is that how he made his billions? Is that what we want for a president?

Reminded of some dialog in the movie Holiday Inn

Ted Hanover: What happened to her millionaire?

Jim Hardy: Slight mistake there. He didn't own millions, he owed them.

calling him Con Man Don. She needs to take a page from his here-to-for successful book and label him. He lies, but that is not a good enough moniker. He must be insulted in order for him to react. He is so predictable.
