(58,785 posts)1. No surprise at this point, but welcome anyway!
"In a statement released in advance of his appearance on MSNBC's "Hardball" with Chris Matthews, Williams said the former secretary of state "understands our issues on trade, understands the complexities of multinational economies and supports American workers, their families and communities.
The Detroit Free Press also reports that on an internal UAW poll 28% said they would vote for Trump.
The UAW has a history of sitting on the fence when the Democratic nomination is contested. In 2008 it didn't endorse then-Sen. Barack Obama until mid-June, about the same time that then-Sen. Hillary Clinton conceded to Obama. ... Today it has about 412,000 active members, and more than 1 million retirees.

Donald Trump: I have tremendous support within unions
One day before the New Hampshire primary, GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump touted his support among unions, saying the demographic he actually has trouble with is rich people.
I work in areas where we have unions, we dont have unions, Mr. Trump said Monday at a town hall-style meeting in New Hampshire. Manhattan is a hundred percent - youre building a building, its essentially a hundred percent union. So I've worked with unions over the years - I've done very well with unions.
And I have tremendous support within unions, and I have tremendous support in areas where they dont have unions, he said. Like in Florida, they dont have very many unions. The workers love me.
I mean, my support is really with those workers, those people, he said. Thats it - the policemen, the firemen, the construction workers, the lathers, the sheetrock workers, the electricians, the plumbers. Thats where my support is - every poll shows it.
He said his weakest support is with very rich people.
Isnt that funny? I dont along that well with the rich, he said.

but then I remember he is fully capable of starting a nuclear war over a personal insult and then my laughter turns to tears.
