Across much of the developed world, researchers have noted that more young adults are living at their parents homes for longer periods in some cases because they never left, in others because they moved back after being on their own in college or the working world.

Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)I started out with very little, gathered items over time and learned I could only what I could afford myself.
I remember a conversation I had with my mom, did not like the position I had, and she told me I could come home and live but she did not know what I was going to do when my parents would not be around to take care of me. I knew that meant there would not be any money, well went right back to work so I would be able to provide for myself.

(10,715 posts)around 70%, while many in college, as always, find that if they can live at home and study rather than juggle college and work they do better in school. The trend in the OP mirrors the trend in college attendance, and the decline of the labor participation rate among young people. Its a bit of a package deal, a change in behavior not unexpected (or unwelcome) in an increasingly complex and education-intensive employment market.
Of course, the cost of education is likely a contributing factor as well. Clinton and Sanders both have good plans for positive changes there, along the lines of what more advanced European governments have done for years.
