Trump's speech on energy today.... well, let's just say I can't find the words to insult

it properly, to give it its due. Maybe some of you can.

Here is what he said, in its entirety.

Bernie is going to ban fracking.

Hillary is going to ban fracking. Hillary is going to abolish the Second Amendment. Okay? Just in case you have any questions. She's going to abolish your right to own guns; she's going to abolish the Second Amendment. And I'm exactly the opposite and I got the endorsement the other day from the NRA, which was a great endorsement and a great honor for me because they're great, amazing people. I'm a member of the NRA. My sons are members of the NRA.

But they want to absolutely knock out fracking. And you do that, you're going to be back into the Middle East and we're going to be begging for oil again. It's not going to happen. Not with me.

We're going to open it up. We're going to be energy independent. We're going to have all sorts of energy. We're going to have everything you can think of, including solar.

And I know a lot about solar. The problem with solar: It's very expensive. When you have a 30-year payback, that's not exactly the greatest thing in the world. But I know a lot about solar. I have gone solar on occasion, but it a very, very expensive thing.

Wind is very expensive. I mean, wind, without subsidy, wind doesn't work. You need massive subsidies for wind. There are places maybe for wind. But if you go to various places in California, wind is killing all of the eagles.

You know if you shoot an eagle, kill an eagle, they want to put you in jail for five years. Yet the windmills are killing hundreds and hundreds of eagles. One of the most beautiful, one of the most treasured birds -- and they're killing them by the hundreds and nothing happens. So wind is, you know, it is a problem. Plus it's very, very expensive and doesn't work without subsidy.

Despite that, I'm into all types of energy.

By the way, while we are in North Dakota, I have to say this. I love the farmers. And the farmers are incredible. We have to remember this was largely a farm state. And they produce tremendous crops of tremendous different goods of which I eat a lot of them. And, and I just want to pay my respects to the farmers of North Dakota. Because they have done a great job.

There's a lot of places Hillary can't go without risking extremely damaging return fire from Trump. If there is one thing Trump is good at it's counter-battery fire.

Fri May 27, 2016, 03:32 AM
May 2016

"Of course she's crooked, I paid her myself and she came through for me when I called." Then he will produce the cancelled checks.

Their kids are best friends, they move in the same social strata.

But that means Trump is crooked, yes? So what, Trump wasn't pretending to be on your side while taking payoffs to do favors for the wealthy, everyone knows Trump is on Trump's side.

I'm reminded of Rodney Dangerfield's first day in business class.

Influence peddling, maybe, but unprovable, and in any event, it will always be able to be pivoted to the government bailing him and his companies out. The stuff they have on Trump isn't salacious sex crap, it's full on financial ruin.

Personally I loathe Trump, have never watched any of his shows, dislike that persona intensely.

I don't think pointing out the government has bailed him out many times can't be played to his political advantage though.

The messages here on DU are weirdly conflicting. "DOOM! TRUMP WILL KILL US ALL IF BERNIE DOESN'T DROP OUT NOW!!1!" vs "Relax, Trump is going to lose by a landslide". It can't be both at the same time.

26. His lobbying arm is very entrenched.
Fri May 27, 2016, 04:08 AM
May 2016

Which will be pointed out. He's not "new" to Washington. He's not anti-establishment, his lobbyists were actually investigated in 2000 for effectively bribing and he had to pay a $250k fine. Mind you, I know exactly what you're saying, but I don't think the American people are going to buy it. They're not going to buy the argument that the guy who knows how "things operate" is able to "fix it." Because it can't be "fixed" without legislation, and the guy doesn't even know where things are going wrong (it's not actually in lobbying, which is a constitutional right, redress of grievances, it's much more than that; it's in big money, citizens united, oligarchy united, which force politicians to be on a year round fundraising cycle just to stay afloat).

I don't think Trump has a shot in hell of becoming President. He's an embarrassment, a third rate candidate. This OP is literally about how his energy policy is a complete and epic joke, utterly misinformed (Wind is already competitive with coal, buildings and power lines kill more birds than turbines, and solar is going to be extremely cheap in a decade due to the DOE's SunShot Initiative; he's absolutely fucking clueless).

I didn't listen to it yesterday but the pundits were saying how great it was and presidential. So when I saw the OP, I actually was expecting a decent job. There is nothing of substance at all in that speech. It's the same string of second grade thoughts as always.

Perhaps he's saying nothing.

Perhaps it is some kind of allergic reaction to oral diarrhea.

serious, it would be funny. There are some song writers who just sit down and play and sing anything that comes in their mind hoping to come up with something good. That's him, although the "good" is stuff that attracts ignorant, racist voters. I think he got in the race for publicity, but his racist rants against Latinos and Muslims appealed to yahoos and here we are.

AN AMERICA FIRST ENERGY PLAN

I’m delighted to be in North Dakota, a state at the forefront of a new energy revolution.

Oil and natural gas production is up significantly in the last decade. Our oil imports have been cut in half.

But all this occurred in spite of massive new bureaucratic and political barriers.

https://www.donaldjtrump.com/press-releases/an-america-first-energy-plan

If you read through the whole thing, you will see it is totally different. Doesn't even sound like the same person.
