Trump Seeks To Whiten The Republican Party Even More

Those of us who possess rudimentary cognitive skills can easily see that the Republican Party offers nothing for the majority of Americans, except for those who are white, male and wealthy. Since the demographics of this country are quickly shifting from a White majority to a much larger percentage of Hispanics making up our electorate, Donald Trump thought this was the opportune time to insult the living Hell out of any and every American of Latino descent.

These non-White/male Republicans wear the Republican label even though the party has treated them poorly and legislated against their own well-being. Why do they? It's hard to say, but likely it is their appeal via their parents or their faith. The mere existence of LGBT, female, immigrant, Muslim, Black and Hispanic Republicans (to name a few) still baffles those of us who have a basic knowledge of the GOP's objectives.

Now that Trump is the GOP's nominee, Hispanic Republicans are in a very precarious position. How do they reconcile voting for someone who's been downright offensive to Hispanics?

I doubt anyone around him EVER criticizes a single word he says.

who does not like being challenged, on anything, and feels his wealth should insulate him from criticism.

I think he's in for a bumpy few months leading up to a total wipe-out in November.

Or to avoid having to actually do the job.

The Republicans don't seem to understand how unstable he is.

he's probably just aware enough to realize that there's no demographic model showing that he has a prayer in a general election.

The part of him who thinks he's beyond criticism is going to crash into the part of him that doesn't want to become a global joke. I could see him devising a blame scenario where he gets to duck out the back.

Which would make the Pukes' Cleveland convention even more entertaining.

He has peeled the veneer off the Republican Party. It's always been a group of racist white men. Now it is out there for all to see.

Hispanics here legally are against immigrants here illegally, in fact sometimes even more so because, "the illegals make them look bad".

That is the explanation I have heard, not saying whether it deserves any merit or not.

who are not here legally, so maintain a lot of sympathy for their plight.

And Trump doesn't seem to distinguish between the two categories, as evidenced by his bashing of the American federal judge who has Mexican heritage.

Latin Americans are almost exclusively Roman Catholic, a church that wholly supports abortion restrictions and other "morals" laws that they euphemistically equate with the whole "family values" dynamic. That's one reason support was so high for Dubya. His wacko Talibangelist base ate that up, and it was pretty close to the Catholic Church's position, so a lot of Hispanics went that way.

However, the Mittster was a Mormon, which is kind of anathema to the Catholic Church, so his support dropped because of that. Trump is so obviously a hedonist that it surprises me he has any support among religious types of any stripe. After the outright attacks on Hispanics, with video and audio proof, and adding in the religious thing, it's surprising he polls in the 20's with that demographic.

He should be going down come the fall.

Republican Party will abandon it. Their party has not stood by them; there's no reason they should stand by the party.

When Republican Nixon took his little trip to China, conservative the mostly white male business class pounded their fists on their boardroom tables and shouted hurrah. I'm guess less because they were willing to acknowledge another culture than because it meant their cash registers would soon be ringing a lot more.

Even so, there was general acknowledgement of the "bold move."

The U.S. is more diverse now than ever, which means all markets rise and fall relative to the consumers who keep them afloat. Where are the hurrahs from the (still) mostly white male business owners celebrating this diversity? Certainly not in the Republican Party.
