The next Congress will face the following problems,IMO.

Banks going cashless
Driveless cars/trucks
70% unemployment
Hidden motor on bicycles
Ad-blockers violates interstate commerce

Pandemics and drug shortages and/or drugs that no longer work on severe infections.
A broken medical system that boomers could drive to collapse.

If I install such a program on my own privately-owned system, I am simply stopping ads from displaying on that system. I'm not interfering with interstate commerce any more than if I change the TV channel during commercials.

Assuming, of course, that we get a Democrat in the Whitehouse and a human in the 9th SCOTUS seat.

Congress might pass a law criminalizing this basic aspect of internet use, but the SCOTUS will rule either that private citizens' use of such software systems is protected by the 1st Amendment or that Congress overstepped its bounds in its particular reading of the commerce clause.


Interesting thought experiment, though.
