When a Louisiana woman placed a surveillance camera in her garage, she never expected to see this trespasser. The trespasser was not a criminal, but a little boy who had been running into her garage to hug her dog.
Dog owner Hollie Mallet took to Facebook in the hopes of identifying the boy.
Attn Neighbors! Anyone know who this sweet little boy is? she posted. Every now and then when he rides his bike he will quickly come and love on my dog or play fetch real quick, but always leaves quick like he doesnt know if he should be here! Id like to tell him hes welcome to stay and play, she loves the attention!
After watching the video, Ginger Breaux recognized the boy as her son Josh and alerted Mallet. She explained that her son loves animals, especially dogs. The Daily Mail reports that the Breuax familys dog Bella recently died.
Now, Mallet now invites Josh to frequently visit her dog Dutchess.

(2,983 posts)Brings back some memories. When I was a little boy, there was a big (almost giant) black lab that lived some distance down the street from me. I was always out on my bike doing something - and one day when he was standing there, wagging his tail and looking longingly at the tennis ball in the grass, I decided to stop and play with him a bit. It began something of a friendship between Cob (that was his name) and I that lasted for several years. Occasionally Cob's humans would come outside, or stop and watch - and other neighborhood kids eventually came to see him, too.
Not sure what made me decide to play with him that day, since he was big - and I was always kind of scared of big dogs back then. Maybe he just looked lonely. Or bored. Maybe it was that giant wagging tail, or the fact that he didn't rip my face off (which, in retrospect, could have happened) when I stopped to play with him.
This kid took it a step further in sneaking into a garage - but I'll bet you it was the dog's fault for staring at him with those big eyes and wagging it's tail. I wish there were more stories like this.

(45,574 posts)Any dog owners familiar with this? They like being pet but not hugged because it is restraining and makes them feel intimidated?
Anyway, I'm glad this boy did not get shot for trespassing. It's a cute story. And hopefully he'll get longer play sessions with the owners permission and not have to hide it.

(6,943 posts)Some dogs don't like hugging, because it restrains them in a way no other dog or pack member could do, but some dogs don't mind it, and some actually like it. I currently have a basset hound who not only likes hugs from me, but who will actually seek me out in order to get hugs. My previous basset hound, on the other hand, didn't care for hugs, and would squirm and struggle when I tried to hug him.
Dogs are very much individuals, just like people, and often have different likes and dislikes.

(6,645 posts)a friends dog sat still for my daughter to pet her even though sitting still for that long was painful for the dog. But my daughter is retarded and that dog and our cats instinctively knew that and were extra patient with her. She loves dogs and cats as a result.
