Something good about Hillary Clinton.

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by LostOne4Ever (a host of the General Discussion forum).

In an article published yesterday in HuffPo titled, "Hillary Clinton Spoke About Reproductive Justice In A Genuinely Intersectional Way," Clinton comes out unabashedly pro abortion access. Here's a short excerpt:

Clinton’s speech was a powerful reminder that the concept of “choice” is hollow for low-income people who may not actually have a choice when it comes to terminating their pregnancies because they can’t afford an abortion.

“Let’s repeal laws like the Hyde Amendment that make it nearly impossible for low-income women — disproportionately women of color — to exercise their full reproductive rights,” she said.

I can get behind that, because I am unabashedly pro abortion access.

Does that include access to late term abortion? I'm still not clear on that.

I will leave that issue where I think it belongs - with a woman and her doctor. Such a decision is not my business, nor do I wish to make it my business.

on a healthy baby, capable of independent life outside the womb, except to preserve the mother's health.

And that exception is already part of established law and Hillary supports it.

She has said restrictions can be placed, which is not the same as saying she is in favor of restrictions.

To win the country, a presidential candidate has to be a politician. Being a politician means being very careful about how one answers questions. Bernie supporters seem to have a problem with that. They seem to prefer blanket statements that make them feel good but would sink the candidate in the general election.

If you actually listen to what Hillary says, instead of taking it out of context and twisting it into a pretzel, you will see that her positions are very progressive. That's why so many of us die-hard liberals support her.

ETA: Have you even read Planned Parenthood's endorsement of Hillary?

There’s no question: Hillary Clinton holds the strongest record on reproductive rights of all presidential contenders in not just this election, but in American history. She doesn’t just support women’s health — she has been a proactive leader on expanding access to women’s health care. In fact, no other 2016 candidate has shown such strong, lifelong commitment to the issues Planned Parenthood Action Fund cares about.

But you said it well.

Hillary will win and we will see how much "restrictions" she wants to put on abortion. Heres a hint: it ain't happening.

legal till the point of viability ,which is about the 26th week.

Once a healthy fetus is capable of independent life outside of the womb, Roe v. Wade said that restrictions can be placed, and both Bernie and Hillary accept Roe v. Wade. Furthermore, no doctor would be willing to abort a healthy fetus capable of life outside the womb, except for health reasons of the mother.
