The key facts are:

• The US has the highest gun ownership rate in the world - an average of 88 per 100 people. That puts it first in the world for gun ownership - and even the number two country, Yemen, has significantly fewer - 54.8 per 100 people
• But the US does not have the worst firearm murder rate - that prize belongs to Honduras, El Salvador and Jamaica. In fact, the US is number 28, with a rate of 2.97 per 100,000 people
Puerto Rico tops the world's table for firearms murders as a percentage of all homicides - 94.8%. It's followed by Sierra Leone in Africa and Saint Kitts and Nevis in the Caribbean

The proposed Assault Weapons Ban that would have prohibited the Lanza AR-15 would have been defeated by replacing the grip with a weird grip for $30.

None of these mass shooters are going so say to themselves, "Oh I really want to shoot up a place and the people in it, but because I don't have the AR-15 with a decent grip or bayonet lug I won't do it."

Perhaps if we had actual gun control, you'd be in a position to declare that "gun control just isn't the answer." Instead we have a wide range of laws that have little impact on the proliferation of guns, while we have a multi-billion dollar gun lobby working 24/7 to increase their profits with the help of their eager propagandists in congress and elsewhere--even here on DU.

It would be terrific to see actual gun control, but thanks to those well-funded efforts, we see nothing of the sort.

Typical loser gun nuts with religious extremism. Gun nuts always think at some pint in time that to solve their anger is to go out and shoot something.

The NRA is a far right group that hates America. It's looking after its own skin.
