Sounds like the FBI had him and let him go

After interviewing him twice. I'm sure he was truthful about his radical views. Not. How could they have him on a watch list but he was still able to purchase guns? The system has some serious holes in it.

6. approx one percent of US population is muslim (3.3 million)

lowest estimate of radicalized muslims in USA is one percent

http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Security-Watch/terrorism-security/2015/0113/How-many-Muslim-extremists-are-there-Just-the-facts-please

if every muslim who has expressed radical views were under surveillance, every FBI employee (33K) would have his own radical to monitor 24 hours per day.

15. potential terrorists that are licensed to conceal carry weapons

3. Due process

It sounds like you have this all figured out. Have you applied to be a consultant for the FBI yet?

4. The FBI has probably had contact with most children of Muslim immigrants in the country

at one point or another. That's part of the disturbingly wide net that we cast.

5. No. Absolutely not. Particularly in nearby Dearborn...

..where Muslims are fully integrated into the community and radicalism is rare.

7. You might be interested to learn about the FBI surveillance and informant network in Dearborn

It's at least better than the clumsy sting stuff they were trying 10 years ago, I guess...

10. And? Your claim that most Dearborn kids have been interviewed by the FBI is still wrong.

11. Is there any way of preventing someone who has never been convicted of a crime

from purchasing guns?

19. Assault weapons ban

Could at least prevent someone from purchasing the kind of gun that made it so easy to kill so many people so quickly.

14. Well, we can't have it both ways....

Suspicion does not equal guilt. Unless you want to go all Trump and basically just assume all Muslim men are terrorists, we must respect due process.

18. Wow, how many times has the CIA and FBI failed to capture someone that later

ends up killing people? They drop the ball way too much imo.

20. How does this relate

to the FBI investigating Hillary Clinton??? If they don't arrest her do you want her to be allowed to run for President?

21. He possessed a security clearance and was a guard for G4S (govt contractor)

I'm curious to see if his security clearance went through USIS, a former contractor who let slip a ton of people who should never gotten clearances. The #1 provider of background checks for security clearances has been found time and time again to have fallen down on the job.

22. Unfortunately you can't punish people until they commit a crime.

This guy's contacts with IS must have been discreet enough that the Feds couldn't nail him for anything.

I'd rather not go down the road of punishing "thoughtcrime".
