(8,515 posts)May I add that so many in our country were hoping this attack was planned and carried out with
direct assistance from isis leaders in the Mid-East...
This way the NRA and their lovers could easily promote that every Household needs an AR15 ....

(18,290 posts)Had Florida LE been allowed and required to conduct personal interviews with friends/family/neighbors concerning the hidden history of prospective permit holders, that information would have come out.
In the sane gun states, that would have been enough to (properly) deny him a permit. Then he would have had to try to his luck obtaining his weapons on the black market. Any attempt at doing so might have (not guaranteed, but might have) ended up in total failure, resulting in him getting caught by LE before this massacre took place.

(18,318 posts)didn't need all that subtlety. They just allowed local Sheriffs to find the "history," or said it outright. So, what are your standards of history?

that say that someone who boasts about "wanting to kill people all the time" shouldn't be allowed to legally purchase a firearm?
Or are you so absolutely captured by NRA-type propaganda that you consider such a thing to be an "infringement" on a likely killer's Constitutional rights?

(18,318 posts)"wants to kill peopl all the time" to have a gun. That is why we have civil commitments and orders which legally prevent people who are mental incompetents from obtaining guns. It's called due process, as in the 5th Amendment. The 5th isn't propaganda, is it? My reading of that Amendment shows it not to be an "NRA TalkingPoint.©"

(13,081 posts)What else was the government supposed to do? Appoint people who aren't right wing hacks to SCOTUS and make laws & judicial decisions that are for the benefit of all Americans and not just the weapons corporation and their bribes to politicians? That's just crazy!
